The new KM-120 Army-Navy Special is inspired by mandolin designs made popular during the First World War. The compact, affordable and rugged design provided a unique, pleasing tone that helped to pass the time and boost the moral of soldiers and sailors overseas. Just as it was back in 1917, the KM-120 offers that same simple, yet rugged, A-style flattop and flat-back design; while incorporating modern production techniques, quality materials and professional fittings throughout. All combined to create the most affordable, and best value mandolin for the student, amateur or mandolin aficionado at every level – making it a perennial favorite and perfect for traditional Americana, Old-timey, and Celtic music.

Liked the mandolin when returned, put in case played very little factory strings. Checked the neck because of high string action and saw that the neck bowed beyond repair 30 days after return date.

Unpacked it and found action was so high it was unplayable and there is no way to adjust, so it's going back immediately. Also, though it didn't say it came with a padded bag, the ad showed a picture of one but it didn't come with one. Very disappointing purchase!

This mandolin exceeded my expectations. 15 Min set up time, just tuning, and playing well. I have 2 more expensive mandolins, and this one plays as well as they do. You shouldn't be disappointed in it. It is not quite as loud though.

I really like this Army Navy mandolin by Kentucky. It has a nice ring to it. Compact, sturdy, and well built. You can't beat the quality for the price either!

Out of the box, the action was too high. I removed the non adjustable bridge and with sand paper I lowered the action. Playability is great now and I like the muddy woody sound. It is not as loud as a KM-150, but loud enough.

I’ve played all kinds of mandolins over the years. Webers, Ratliffs, rogues, Eastmans, and so on. Every Kentucky I’ve ever gotten has been so so. This one is no exception. Make no mistake, 75% of what you are paying for is the look. It is a fun on the go mandolin and I wouldn’t expect the world from it. Do not trust the factory set up on it. Take it to someone who knows how to set them up, or learn how. My setup was so bad when I got it that the notes where almost a half step sharp. If you want a starter mandolin I would point you to an Ibanez or a rogue over this. You’re getting a $100 mandolin with a cool look for ~$230.
