expensive and poor quality plastic used in its construction that marks easily and is prone to dust etc getting down the side of the buttons which do not come off easily to allow maintenance. Really disappointed in the purchase which was a gift for my husband who now has gone back to his former mouse and the new one sits on the side.

I used thumb style trackballs for many years to prevent carpal tunnel issues. At some point, I started having pain on my thumb joints, which I figured out was caused by heavy use of the thumb style trackballs. These finger style devices looked like they would be hard to learn with the scroll ring, the thumb on the left button, etc, but I bought one to try, and was pleasantly surprised by the short learning curve. Now I can move between this trackball, my thumb type trackballs and a regular mouse very easily. This is a quality device with smooth ball and ring action. Reviews mention button switch durability issues, but I am willing and able to replace these switches if that becomes an issue. Quality switch replacements are inexpensive, and unfortunately this is a common problem...

I love this product. The hardware is smooth and easy to use. The trackball is simple, responsive and easy to get used to. The button placement is just right for medium and large hands. And it should work well for small hands too. The ball is easy to remove and clean. Unlike a mouse the device doesn't need much room. It doesn't move physically on the table. One of the best things about the product is the scroll wheel. It has a superb feel and can be configured to move through pages fast and smoothly. This is a big step up from a regular mouse. The software Kensington provides is a little limited but does the job. There are many ways to configure the buttons though which I really like. This was my first trackball and I was initially a little skeptical about whether I'd get used to it but it didn't take me more than a couple of days. And I mostly won't go back to using a regular mouse again because of how responsive and smooth the trackball is.There are other products in the market and some may be good but this trackball is one of the best value purchases I've made for ergonomics and I'll happily recommend it.Caveats - don't expect to use this for gaming. It is great for productivity, art, coding and spreadsheets. It also has only two buttons which may be limiting for some. It works perfectly fine for me though

I have a Logitech M570, Logitech Trackman Marble, Adesso Trackball, Kensington Expert, and the Kensington Orbit with scroll ring. Trackball experiences are very subjective because our hands are all different shapes and sizes, and we use different techniques. In my experience the Kensington Orbit with scroll ring is the overall winner. With regard to performance, the Kensington Expert is the best. It is also two to three times the price of all the other trackballs listed. Additionally, the Expert is tilted at a steep angle toward the user. This can put your wrist in an awkward and painful position. The Logitech Trackman Marble and the Orbit are both tilted slighty away from the user, and this is very comfortable. The scroll ring on the Orbit is also much smoother than the scratchtastic Expert. The Logitech Trackman Marble is the most like the Orbit. The trackballs are the same size and have a similar form. The shape of the Marble is more comfortable overall and has two additional programmable buttons. The Orbit has somewhat less comfortable button placement, and lacks the extra buttons. The Orbit can be programmed to emulate a middle click by pressing both buttons. However, the Logitech does not have any scroll wheel or scroll ring. That's an automatic disqualification in my book. The Orbit wins by default. The Adesso Trackball gets a number of negative reviews, and rightfully so. It has the most useless button placement I have ever seen. However, it does have a much larger ball than the Orbit and Marble, has a higher resolution (800dpi), has a scroll wheel, and is in the same price range. With a couple of modifications and the use of arm rest (I use a thick text book), it is a truly fantastic trackball. However, out of the box the Orbit and the Marble leave the Adesso in the dust. The M570 is a thumb controlled trackball. Many people love them, while others abhor them. (I happen to have no preference, and use both) If you have a predilection for a fingertip controlled ball, the Orbit and other trackballs win this round. Otherwise, the M570 is a top notch device. While the other trackballs may best the Orbit in one way or the other, it scores well in all areas. It gets my recommendation as the best overall affordable trackball. The rundownPros:-affordable-comfortable shape-smooth rolling ball-the best scrolling apparatus-a good sizeCons:-no extra buttons-no dedicated middle click button-slightly awkward button placement

I decided to stop being lazy and write my first review for a product and contribute to the (mostly) helpful customer reviews. This is a great trackball mouse, I've been using it for a few days and must say that I am very pleased. I've owned/ownseveral other trackball input devices (logitech m570, kensington slimblade, kensington orbit without the scroll wheel and the microsoft trackball explorer) and this one may be my most favorite of them all.[Emphasis on gaming]-----------------------I have been gaming with trackball devices for about 3yrs now and if I had to rank each trackball from best gamer mouse to worst I would rank it this way:(1) kensington orbit with scroll wheel(2) logitech m570(3) kensington orbit without scroll wheel(4) kensington slimblade(5) microsoft trackball explorerThe top ranking mice can easily swap ranks, meaning there is only a bias when choosing between the two. But the last 3 suffer from a lack of a scroll wheel to quickly switch between weapons(# 3) and buttons that are two spaced apart to comfortably aim and shoot with the right and left buttons held simultaneously (#4 and #5 and I do have big hands). The kensington orbit has a highly usable, very responsive scroll wheel and its left/right buttons are easy to simultaneously use while aiming with the ball. the m570 shares the same ease of use as the orbit during gaming. Movements or aiming can be performed incredibly easy with just a quick flick of the finger, which I think is more controllable, faster and fun(most important) to perform with the kensington than the m570.Long play sessions should be fine, I played a fps for about 30mins and my fingers started to cramp from the keyboard, but the mousing hand was fine. My favorite thing about gaming with the orbit vs the m570 is if, e.g, my middle finger starts to feel sore I still have two other fingers to utilize. where as, the m570 I am only limited to using my thumb and when it gets too sore game time is put on hold. The palm rest attached gives me the most comfort, but that varies among every user. Overall, palm rest on or off the ergonomics would be almost perfect (for me) if the location of the ball was shifted slightly to the right instead of dead center, but then it would not be fair game for the left handed people out there.Overall, I enjoy using a trackball mouse for everything its just fun and pain free.
