I love this- it does a great job and is easier to clean than any other cleaner I have owned... this is essential when you have pets. However, today the clean water tank cracked in 4 different places when just being put back in the machine. Amazon can't replace part so I have to exchange the whole thing. Bummer. Would buy again though but it seems like this is a common problem.

I'd give this machine 10 stars if it were possible!! Of the 3 different carpet washers, this one is the best!I owned a Dirt Devil carpet cleaner. It did a better than the water system attachments for my Rainbow Cleaner. The suction was better, but it required additional upper body effort to extract the solution. The wet system for my Rainbow was very narrow and didn't have wheels on it and required even more upper body effort. My shoulder would hurt for days after I was done. The Kenmore KW4070 is amazing. I counted out the 9 capfuls of cleaning solution into a measuring cup. It comes up to 1/3 Cup. That saves you time when you go filling the clean solution container. The machine is so easy to set up and disassemble for clean-up. I love that the lid that covers the rollers comes out completely, so you can clean it well. My Dirt Devil and Rainbow wash system didn't do that. It always looked gross.I still use my Rainbow cleaner for vacuuming. I love the water canister that never loses suction. I also get great satisfaction on seeing what it really does through the see-through cannister. I vacuumed all the carpet really well with the Rainbow before washing. That water alone was horrendous!!! I worked on the perimeter carpet next to the molding using the 6" attachment. It worked a charm! After doing the perimeters, then I washed the carpet. I was in disbelief how filthy the carpet was. Whenever I've washed carpet my whole life, I've always gone back over it with a clear-water rinse. So, each of the rooms were done twice. I don't want soap dried in carpet. I believe the residue draws more dust and dirt in the future. The 'rinse water' was a lighter dirt color with additional foam. The extractor is so efficient that the carpet was dry in about 3.5 hours...max!I still have 2 rooms, 5 dining room chairs, 2 recliners, the basement, and the basement stairs to do.This machine has more than paid for itself already. If you tally the entire job, it would have cost me well over $700. The professionals charge around $15.00 per stair...alone.There is one concession. I wish the dirty water tank held more fluid.I look forward to my first vaccuming with the Rainbow to see the complete analysis. The carpet you see is 28 years old! It may not look great, but it is in very good condition. This is the best it's going to get. No shoes allowed rule over the entire time. It's my mom's condo. I can't replace it yet.UPDATE 1/21/2025: i finished all the jobs previously mentioned except for the stairs and basement. The machine has already paid for itself. I Googled the going rate for professional carpet cleaners. It would cost me over $700 just for the upstairs cleaning. They charge per square foot. The pictures I posted are the ivory carpet throughout the condo. This carpet was put down in 1996 when my dad had the place built. The 2nd picture of the variegated taupes is the breakfast nook. I took the picture so you could see a before/after comparison. That carpet is 3 years old. As you can see the difference in the portion at the bottom after cleaning, with the top still needing to be done. The machine restored the carpet to what it looked like when it was placed November 2021.

It works well, I find the tank is a little small and you have to refill often

I received this late Friday and used it for the first time on Sunday. It would not be possible for me to be happier!Previously I have rented machines and once employed a professional service to clean the carpet. This Kenmore machine did a better job of cleaning the carpet than either the rental or the professional! There were light stains in the carpet (not too noticeable but to me) which I thought would never come out. They're gone! No longer visible at all!I had vacuumed extremely well before using it but was shocked at just how much dirt this machine pulled from deep in the carpet. It was kind of disgusting, actually. I thought I was cleaner than that. The machine is lightweight and easy to handle. Read the instructions. It does not require a lot of cleaning solution. Much less than a rental does.It extracted nearly all the fluid from the carpet. I cleaned the carpet Sunday evening. Today is Monday morning and the carpet is dry in spite of high humidity. It may be a high investment for many people but if you have carpets it is worth it for the money you will save on rentals or outside services over time. No trips to lug heavy machines or allow strangers in your home. No time limits or being subject to waiting for someone who shows up late. You can clean small spots any time you like. For cleaning solution I used Zep general purpose carpet cleaning concentrate. I got a gallon and used a bit more than the 5 oz per gallon dilution. This gallon will last a LONG time for me.

I ordered this in Sept but didn’t open it until a few days ago to clean an area rug. It leaked everywhere and that’s when I realised that the reservoir is cracked. Cheap plastic. Could not return it. Amazon no help at all!

I purchased this unit after the 2 units I had recently took a dive (one was a Hoover that was 8 or so years old, other a Bissell just over 1 year old - motor died). After the issues with those 2 brands I decided to check for other options - the Hoover didn't clean as well but lasted longer, the Bissell cleaned well but died after a year. Then I found this unit, based on reviews and researching it some more it fit my needs. After receiving the unit the assembly was simple, took a couple minutes, and the design was great - very easy to access the clean and dirty tanks. What I really loved was the ability to remove the from plastic piece for suction which gave direct access to the rollers for cleaning. That was my biggest gripe with my Bissell - I could remove the piece, but unless I wanted to flip it over and remove the screws to access the roller directly there wasn't a simple way to clean it out.Performance wise, it simply cleans much better then both of the other 2 I had - that dual brush system works great, the Bissell was good but this was great (Hoover used the 5 spinning brushes which didn't clean deep). I had shampooed my carpet a couple weeks ago and just vacuumed the day before I first used this new one and I was pretty amazed at the amount of hair/gunk this dug up. The best part is that emptying it out and cleaning afterward is much simpler/quicker. Plus this unit is pretty cheap given the level of performance. The only real con for me is that the clean and dirty water tanks are a bit smaller than my Hoover had, but I can deal with that given the results.I would definitely recommend this product, already have mentioned it to family members who may need a new one. Glad I gave Kenmore a try as this was my first vacuum/shampooer I had ever purchased from them.

This carpet-cleaning machine is a fantastic find! It's incredibly easy to use and does an excellent job removing dirt from carpets. The machine is also lightweight, which makes it super convenient to carry from room to room or up and down stairs. Its performance exceeded my expectations, lifting stains and leaving carpets fresh and clean. If you're looking for a machine that's efficient and easy to maneuver, I highly recommend this one!

I have low-grained carpeting that has not been professionally cleaned in over 25 years, (other than my own on-my-knees spot scrubbing). For decades, I have researched for feasibly priced machines, and seeing as I live in an apt. bldg. I couldn't imagine needing to deep wash the carpets again. However, with this baby and its extension hose and mini carpet nozzles I have cleaned our cat tree, sofa cushions, even the mattress. The emptying and filling of the water receptacles are not cumbersome to handle. I am very happy with this Kenmore and recommend it to everyone.
