I do have a dog but I've never needed to confine him to a certain radius in the yard or park. However, these work very well for anchoring ropes for a tent or as stakes for a young tree. Most people use straight stakes for trees and I see those pull out of the ground often in strong winds. These are fairly easy to screw into moist soil, but we have lots of clay in our North Texas soil below a certain level. So, getting the stake the maximum 11 inches into the ground, as the product description suggests, can be difficult if the soil is dry. The stake will sometimes continue after hitting a small rock, due to the corkscrew shape, but hitting a larger rock requires you to either stop at that depth or start over elsewhere.I've found that using an adjustable wrench near the bottom of the "triangle" can give enough leverage to turn the stake when it becomes too difficult to turn by hand. The wire gauge these steel stakes are made from is large enough to withstand 80 lbs. of force, according to the description, and I don't doubt that - whether that force is upward or parallel to the ground. The chrome plating should ensure that the stakes don't corrode for years to come.I'm happy to keep stakes like this on hand for when the need arises.

My wife and took this system with us on a recent trip. Because of its sharpen tip, the auger entered the ground easily, and it firmly held both our dogs in place. (That is new for us. The last system we used broke when the dogs ran to play with an unleashed dog!) This system seems durable, rugged, and will serve us for many years.

Great quality and rust resistant. Good length and visibility. Thickness of the pole made it study enough for the weight of my dog.

I have griffonshires. This is perfect size for them plus being discrete and study.

I have a 60 lb German Shepherd dog. This screw must be ALL the way in the ground to hold her. She has ripped it out of the ground a couple of times. She bent the screw when it didn't rip- out. It is a good product but if you have a large dog you may want to consider a bigger stronger anchor to the ground. i like it and think it is well made but consider your dog when buying it.

Getting the Katzco Dog Stake into hard/rocky ground is a bear and eventually after less than 10 uses, the top part snapped off.I have found that a sturdy wooden stake with a loop of strong line on it is much longer lived. You pound it in with a sledge hammer. It is good for a permanent installation and cheap enough to make extras and just leave them in. They are quite difficult to remove.

Had a previous stake that someone hit with the lawnmower. This is great, it was a bit hard for me to twist all the way down but my neighbor helped. Doesn't tangle or twist, my dog is safe and I think it will last for a long time.
