The magnet's magnetic force is very weak. This makes it unusable. It routinely falls off

I'm switching to all 82mm filters and using a step-up ring to get smaller lens size up to the 82mm. The step-up ring is already magnetized so that you don't have to add a magnet ring to it - its just ready to go.

I recently purchased a set of Kase filters and adapter rings to cover the range of lenses I currently own. The magnetic approach to adding and removing filters seemed extremely convenient. My reason for the poor rating is particular to the construction of the 67 to 82 mm adapter. On a recent vacation, I used the filters and 67 to 82 mm lens adapter to take several long exposure photos. For one photo, I decided to move my tripod a couple feet to get a better composition. When I lifted my tripod, with camera and filters attached to form a new composition, the entire filter set fell from the front of the lens to the ground. Fortunately the set fell with the Kase magnetic protective cap facing downward. There was no damage to the filters although they were covered with sand. I considered whether I had inadvertently knocked the filter set loose as I moved my rig but I knew I hadn't touched camera or lens and there was no sudden shock involved. I carefully cleaned the sand off the filters and then moved them close to the front of the lens expecting to feel the familiar magnetic attraction. There was none! Looking closer at the assembly I discovered why the filters fell loose. The adapter is NOT a one piece unit but instead it is made of a lightweight ring that attaches to your filter threads and a magnetic plate that is adhesive bound to the threaded adapter ring. The adhesive failed! The adapter was useless at this point. This was one of three adapters that I purchased and now I had no faith in the construction of any of them. I was extremely fortunate not to have filter damage from the fall. Later, I repaired the adapter after cleaning the adapter pieces and purchasing a tube of super glue to bond them back together. I would have preferred that the adapter had been a single part or been designed better without the need for glue. I contacted the company which seemed interested in helping me at first but promises to have a rep contact me were not fullfilled. Out of return period as well. I think if you buy a Kase filter set dedicated to a particular lens you might not have this problem. However, if you have varying lens sizes, things are going to get expensive taking this route. Kase filters. Good idea but poor implementation on the adapters in my opinion!
