Bought these to manage local packed down, icy hiking trails.Received my package a few days ago and fit them on my hiking boots. Fit was snug, but only took a few minutes to fit correctly.Tried these out today for the first time and they worked fantastically. Without them I'd have otherwise been picking my way along the trail, hopping from side to side at some points, trying to avoid the slick ice. And one short paved stretch that had been visited by a large snowblower several days ago was covered with sheet ice - these spikes handled everything perfectly. No slipping, no sliding, no concerns about taking an unnecessary spill. Now Kahtoola just needs to invent a version that includes retractable snowshoes for those stretches of trail that are still covered with powder and they'll have the perfect product!

Love these spikes! This is my second set in the past 18 months because I wore down the first set from extensive mountain climbing in the snow, ice, and rocks here in Colorado. I almost certainly could have had the first pair last significantly longer but a lot of my climbs involve scree and boulder hopping intermixed with ice so its sometimes too much of a bother to keep taking them off and putting them on again as the trail wraps through shady icy areas and then back over rocks. Wish they would include an extra link for a repair. If this is worrying you about durability, I should point out I climbed over 40 mountain peaks with this first set, and it included a lot of boulder hopping and scree, which is tough of spikes. Was told they run slightly small so I selected XLG for my first pair of spikes for my size 12 hiking boots. Fit was good but a hair looser than ideal, albeit very easy to put on and take off. Second round I bought LG and they also fit okay but it takes a lot more effort to put them on so next pair I'll go back to XLG. By the way, I bought some cheap, back-up, spikes on Amazon for 1/3 rd of the price of these and the difference in quality is startling. I don't dare use those in the mountains. in fact, I keep the knock-offs for shoveling my driveway when its icy and my Kahtoola spikes for when life and limb are at real risk.

Very durable, the welds hold. And they helped get my fat ass to the top of Camels Hump and Mt. Mansfield via Hellbrook Trail in Vermont.Highly recommend purchase for anyone wanting to climb icy trails, steep inclines or even shovelling your driveway out to get to the nearest liquor store.

Durability, Fit, Grip, Safety, Stability, all of the above. These are quite aggressive allowing for great traction on ice and slippery trails . These are my 3th pair of Kahtoola’s after returning a cheaper pair that broke several years ago. A little pricier than I’d like to pay but hey, you get what you pay for right? It’s the only crampon/ icer I would own

Excellent traction. Relatively easy to put on; stretch just a little bit which made them very easy to put on. My boot size is 13 extra wide and these fit perfectly ( size xxl ). Highly recommend.

I ordered this set of winter traction Microspikes after trying my husband's spikes during an ice storm in my region. Our deck was covered in a thin layer of ice on top of a couple of inches of snow and Boy!! These grip the terrain! I wanted to replace a frozen bird feeder with a fresh feeder but the old traction spikes just didn't grip deep enough and I didn't feel safe. These required a little muscle power to stretch them over my shoes at first, but once attached, I was able to easily keep both my balance and traction on the deck. I rated them a 4 instead of 5 stars solely based on the need to pull rather hard on the silicone front and back to get them over the top and backsides of my shoes. Once in place, absolutely solid. They were easy to remove and will probably be easier to attach now that they have had their initial stretch onto my shoes. I wear a size 10 women's shoe and purchased the suggested medium size for Women's shoe size 9-12 and feel they are true to size. Will definitely purchase another pair for hiking boots, but go up a size to account for the shoe volume of boots.

I cannot for the life of me write a glowing enough review for these microspikes/crampons. I was skeptical, but read on for a 100% true story.Last year, 14 October, 2022, my fiancé and I hiked a mountain in Alaska named Donnelly Dome. It is 3,832 feet to summit. It defeated us at elevation 3,064. We were fully kitted out for the snow and cold with food and water. We thought we were prepared, but above that elevation everything turned to ice and rock. We didn’t know that at the time. Our footwear was evidently lacking because we just couldn’t safely make it up the rock face, and I assure you, we did try. Frustrated and defeated, we went home to Pennsylvania. 24 September, 2023 we returned with the identical kits and gear. The one and only difference is we both had on a pair of these microspikes/crampons. This year not only did we summit without a single issue, we did it in record time, with snow and ice above that very same elevation. 6/5 stars would recommend. I’ve since used these on five other hikes, two in alaska summiting another 4,100 feet, and 2,800 feet on the other. The ones here in Pa were only 1,590 and 1,450 feet, but these spikes made the hike easy. And I’m not joking. Downhill is my weakness, and these make it simple and save my legs. I will never hike without them again. Not to mention putting them on when needed and removing when not was ludicrously easy. I regret not buying them sooner. They are terrific in light snow/ice, gravel, hard/medium pack dirt, and light rocks. Not so great in snow deeper than 6 inches, and a bit slippy on actual rocks when your entire foot is contacting ONLY rock.Sizing, the large was a teensy bit too small for my size 13 hiking boot and was making it curl up the the toe box, so had to upgrade to XL.The only real downside that I now have is that I notice myself getting a wee bit over-confident with these fitted. So wearer, be wary of that.

Top class item, have used the earlier version for several years which also rate 5 stars.Buying these from a company in America meant waiting 2 weeks for delivery which bore a German postmark but these were far cheaper than any other advertised site, came in the correct box with a Tote sack so well pleased with this purchase.Used for fell walking in the Lake District when snow and ice are on the fells, no other item can match these, highly recommended.
