Was able to cut it in half and still have it be lengthy enough to almost touch the ground from out deck roof and gazebo roof. It is very beautiful and high quality, my cat and little siblings like to tug on it and it has yet to break or snap and I've had it for months. It holds a lot of water as long as you make sure to clean out any leaves of helicopter seeds that fly in and get stuck in the hole. It's a good weight so the string Washington state winds don't blow it around like crazy or break it. I absolutely love it! I'm only 18 and you know somethings good when a kid is geeked about it.

The length of these chains probably make them suitable for a two story home. I'm using this from the mid point of my attic (which has a window). Not the intended purpose of replacing my downspout, just using for the sound of rain pouring over the edge during rainy season, when it's cool and I can keep my window open. I thing the color is beautiful on this, bonus that I like hummingbirds.

Decided to try a rain chain rather than the down spouts we used to have that always got clogged up. At 13' this chain is long enough to be effective on my second story gutters. My wife loves the humming bird designs. This chain is quite effective in directing the rain into a rain barrel I have sitting on the ground. The chain is made of sturdy materials and looks like it will hold up well to our weather.Very happy with this chain.

The rain chain is so cute with the hummingbirds. It has a nice copper patina color. It is a long chain but can be shortened fairly easy with some metal snippers, maybe into 2 shorter rain chains. It is easy to install in a down spout. Compared to others I’ve seen at gift shops and big box stores, the rain chain is very reasonably prices. The rain chain makes me smile every time I look at it. Nice product.

I have five rain chains because our house is under an evergreen canopy, and the downspouts and gutters were always getting clogged. So, one by one I replaced the downspouts with rain chains.Rain chains come in a variety of styles that perform differently. The components of a rain chain usually include a hanger bar, hanging hook, rain 'containers', container handles/hangers, bottom hangers on the container bottoms, lengths of chain, and a bottom weight. While some containers are boxy, like the classic Chinese 'doggy bag' takeout containers, others are round and funnel shaped. Some are designed like flowers, often lilies, and some are shaped like cups. All the containers have holes in the bottom so the water can go through them. Sometimes the containers are connected by a series of handles and lengths of chain, sometimes the containers are connected by hangers and no chain, and some have a long length of chain runs from the top container all the way down through the very last one. Sometimes the chains are composed of small links, others use large links.Naturally, the assembly design of the rain chain will determine how the rain flows down the chain, and how effectively and artfully this happens. This Black Butterfly rain chain is rather basic, except for the butterfly stencil that has been cut out from each side of each container. Despite this design, it is hard to appreciate it because little light comes through the cut-out, and even when parts of the cut-out are illuminated, other parts remain dark. So it is rare that you actually see the image of a butterfly.Aside from the butterfly cut-outs, the boxy containers have no other aesthetic treatments; no patinas or textures. The entire rain chain is painted black. The butterfly rain chain comes with a hook to hang it, but no bar to place inside of the gutter to hang from. The components of this rain chain are: chain/hanger/container/bottom hanger/chain/hanger/container... It is a good basic design and very affordable, especially when compared to other more intricate and elaborate designs. I'm deducting one star because it doesn't come with the 'adaptor' bar ("not included") to secure it at the top, nor any weight or hook to secure it at the bottom. Even though it is basic, it should still come with all the basics.

This is a clever solution where a downspout isn't an option, it works pretty well to guide rain down into a single location. Beyond that, it looks quite nice, the copper patina is pretty fake looking up close but from a distance it looks quite nice. Overall, for around $20, it's a good solution that looks nice.
