That's the smell of 100 year old rope that I remember. It is what it is, a classic.Oh, I should note, since it is listed as a feature, the 1/2 inch wide rope should not be used for tug'o'war. It could easily damage peoples hands with more force from a smaller surface area.

The Rope looks to be OK, time will tell. I’ll be surprised if it holds up based on its feel, structure and looks.

You get quite a bit of rope and so far I've used it to turn my dogs large toy bin into a combination scratching post for my cat. I've also used it for various things in my yard and it's held up perfectly. Very handy to have around and is great quality.

This rope is good value. It's real rope and appears to be strong. I'm putting a project together for Old Tucson studios and I needed something that was semi decorative and semi-functional. So I bought the 3/4 and this is a good size. If you're going for something just decorative you may want to go 1 in or more. This supplier in which I'm leaving the review has all different sizes and all different lengths. I think from 1/4 in all the way to 2 in this is a 50-ft package. I may need another 50 ft. I'm trying to watch my expenses so I started with 3/4 in and 50 ft which was a good deal. I'm very pleased if anything goes wrong or if I have any pleasant surprises I'll add to this review. This is a heavy duty hemp rope similar to ones you'll find for boat shops. It's braided and easy-to-use for multiple situations. I used this as a railing for a playground I built my kids. So far so good with durability and functionality. No chemical smells and packaged well for shipping. Super valuable considering that 25 ft of this from similar retailers would cost double. Highly recommended!

I haven't been able to find rope this thick easily, but jumped on this spool for our Scout troop. We're using it for games like tug of war, hill climbing challenge, and as a prop on pioneer projects. It has a classic rough hemp feel which makes it perfect for anything requiring some grip or even giant lashings. I can't wait to see what my Scouts do with it next.

I use it as a cheap dog toy. Why buy a premade 2ft rope for $10, when you can buy 100ft for a little more and make your own. Plus now I've got 98ft of rope to use!It's a good quality rope. I'll use it for a bunch of little decorative projects and around the ranch.
