The dogs seem to love this food. It's got a well-balanced texture and you can clearly see the ingredients rather than having pure "mush." It smells like actual food and not something that's totally disgusting so that's a bonus for my nose. I will say, though, that I got it on a deal and it's a lot more expensive than what I can sustain because of the volume I'll need to feed according to the suggested quantities for weight. Overall, I think it's been a great fresh dog food for my picky old girl.

This review is for the JustFoodForDogs Frozen Fresh Dog Food, Complete Meal or Dog Food Topper, Beef & Russet Potato/Turkey & Whole Wheat Macaroni Human Grade Dog Food Recipe, 5.5I have a senior 47lb lab mix who is mildly picky.Upon bringing the box in the house, my dog was very interested (more than normal) in smelling it. I could tell he was excited to see what was inside. The shipment included a package of healthy, crunchy, pumpkin dog treats which he loves. It also included 5.5oz of 2 flavors of soft food: Turkey & Whole Wheat Macaroni and Beef & Russet Potato. Recently, my dog has not been very interested in eating his dry kibble. I started adding some pumpkin and canned food to entice him which has helped, but he still hasn't been excited to eat. I put 1 of the packets in the refrigerator and it was completely thawed the next day. I gave my dog some as a topping on his regular food and he was really interested as soon as I opened the packet. He ate all his food right away and has been doing so for a couple of weeks with both the Turkey and Beef. I even let him lick the empty food wrapper while I hold it and he thinks that is such a treat! The food packets arrived with over a year dating. At first, I thought the food was really expensive, at $126.95 for 36 packets at the time of this writing, but when I broke it down to the cost per ounce and then compared that to small cans of named brand, good quality canned dog food, it is actually the same or only a little more expensive. And, this fresh food is much better quality than the good quality named brand canned food. While it'd be expensive to feed as the main nutrition to a large dog, it'd be fine for a small dog, or as a topping for larger dogs.

We have used just food for dogs in all forms (boxed, frozen, treats) and they're always a huge hit with our dobermans.

Dog food is expensive. It just is. We have had 2-4 dogs over the past 20+ years, and currently have three (2 bulldogs and a boxer). We buy one of those huge bags of dog food (brand and content recommended by our Vet) for $75-80, and it usually last 2 weeks or so.I was happy to try this out through Amazon Vine, not knowing what to expect (dog food isn’t a usual offering through this program). I was a little concerned feeding our dogs an unknown food source; not so much that it would be harmful (although, I doubt things like this are regulated - similar to supplements, they could be putting pretty much anything in there as there is no oversight), but, rather, I was worried it might upset their GI systems. This product is terrific. It looks like human food, it smells good, and our dogs go crazy for it. We split one pack between our 2 bulldogs and then use one for the boxer. For all, we decreased their dry food about 25% and mixed this in. They love it. Really incredible how much they like it. We’ve been using it for several days and so far their GI systems are unchanged (ie - no diarrhea). There’s about a thousand ingredients listed on the product page, and who knows if it’s actually all in there (again, I’m almost positive these products aren’t regulated by the FDA), but it really does look like regular food and I’m giving this company the benefit of the doubt that this food is better for my dogs than the typical stuff we buy in the store. So, will I be purchasing more? Maybe. It’s pretty pricey - the cost for us is $14/day (4 packets) on top of what we pay for dry food (which is only about $5-6/day). Is it worth it? I’m sure my dogs think so. It would cost us $5,100 a year to use this all the time, so I doubt that will happen. However, I’m thinking I may buy this to use intermittently once or twice a week as a treat (the packets are easily stored in the freezer).I’m sure there are similar products out there, so maybe you can price shop, but I can highly recommend this product and it’s nice to see a company trying to make our dogs healthier (and happier).
