Product Description
This JJC lens star filters kit (4 points, 6 points and 8 points) is designed to be used perpendicular to a point light source such as the sun, a light bulb, a candle or anything highly reflective. Within the filter's surface is a combination of fine, etched line types that help to create a starburst effect with four, six or eight primary diffraction spikes that extend from the light source.
This filter is most effective for pictures where the light source used to generate the starburst effect is a highlight with a significant degree of contrast from the rest of the image. The JJC star filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity, and features an aluminum-alloy frame for durability while remaining lightweight. Additionally, The upper part of the frame has a rotation ring so that you can adjust the direction of the points of light 4, 6, or 8 when using.

Really like how these lenses make the light twinkle and glisten! Really cool filter to have when you want the “twinkle” of lights to come out in your picture.

I took the same picture of a light post with all three. They all looked good, but my favorite was the four star. The case was outstanding even had a belt loop slot. I would definitely purchase these again.

Basically works, but you will need to point it directly at the light source to see any effect at all. Once you do there will be other exposure issues that need to be fixed. I actually stacked all 3 filters together but still did not see any dramatic lighting effects.

Update 25Jan21:Increase rating to 4 stars from 2It still needs to be used with caution but I was pleased with results in 3rd image of train with 8 star.Bright conditions worked better than test.Still won’t use when image quality is very important.Original review:Ok I knew any layer if glass is going to degrade but these seem to give image a heavy loss in clarity vs. w/o filter.Was surprised to see some hazy blotches that don't appear to clean off (6 and 4 star have not opened 8 star)The star-filter effect is cool but can't recommend for top notch photo image quality.I think I will send back and get Hoya that I have heard good things about.With and w/o test shots attached using 6 star version.
