These Jinhaos are a great deal for the price. The Lake Baikal Blue is gorgeous! It reminds me of a piece of beautiful sea glass. The qulity of the pen is very nice for such a bargain price. It feels great in my hand and is so light, which will reduce hand fatigue when writing. Once again, to be fair, I have not actually written with the pen yet, but the fit and finish look amazing. Especially when you consider the price! I will update this review sometime in the future when I have had time to use it. But I do expect good things out of it. My advise, get the Lake Baikal Blue. It is such an amazing color!

I'll give it 4 stars because it writes well, it's a fountain pen, comes with a converter, it's cheap, and it's lightweight. But compared to my other jinhao pens, it LOOKS inexpensive. I have small hands, and I'd still prefer the bigger pens, but maybe that's personal preference.

Just bought this pen a week ago and I can't believe how good it is at a price that defies any logic...Writes better and smoother than all my more expensive (for what ?) Waterman pens. Add some quality ink and you won't believe how good these Chinese pens are.I'll definitely order more sooner than later. Don't hesitate...

I own about a dozen Jinhao fountain pens. I love them for how inexpensive they are - for the cost of an ink converter with other pens you get the entire pen WITH a converter. I bought this variety because it is transparent and my favorite variety (the X750) didn't come in a transparent version. This variety (Jinhao 82) is very nice, but doesn't quite live up to the best in class (in my opinion) X750, for a couple of reasons.First off, the X750 nib is nicer than this one. IMPORTANT: If you want really smooth writing it is best to go with Medium nibs on these pens. The fine nibs work OK, they are just not nearly as smooth and have some scratchiness to them (or "feedback" in fancy non-critical speak). As to the mediums, the all-silver nibs that come on the X750 are smoother than the gold and silver nibs that come on this pen and another Jinhao pen, the X450. I replaced all my two-tone nibs on my X450's with all-silver nibs and will be doing so with this Jinhao 82 as well. They are available on Amazon for a reasonable price and in my opinion really outshine the (admittedly beautiful) two-tone nibs in performance.Another drawback I found with this pen, that is likely specific to the transparent version, is that after you wash it for first use, or to change inks, there are a couple of areas that retain water. Specifically in the cap and in the nib area there are "plastic within plastic" areas that water gets into that are inaccessible to a paper towel to dry. I worry that the water may not dry in time to prevent mold, mildew or staining, but I have not owned them long enough to verify that. This same issue is probably going on in the other Jinhao 82 pens, but you can't see it because they aren't clear.Another characteristic of this pen to note is that it is quite small. It is the only fountain pen I own that I prefer to keep posted when I write, with the cap on the back, because otherwise it feels a bit to small in my (average sized) hands. Despite its smallness, the ink capacity is quite decent for a pen of this size. After noting the drawbacks, I still give this pen a 5 star rating because, as with other Jinhao pens, for the price it is an amazing value. If you happen to be new to fountain pens this would be a great low cost choice if you are in love with the design. However, if you are new, my recommendation would be to get the X750 series instead with a medium nib. Further, purchase some bottled ink and read reviews for an ink that is NOT described as dry (all varieties of Pilot iroshizuku are great - yama budo, specifically, is fantastic) and get some QUALITY paper (I recommend Mnemosyne). Paper and ink quality make an INSANE difference in writing experience. With a Jinhao X750, iroshizuku ink and Mnemosyne paper you will not believe the smoothness - almost like writing on glass. Unfortunately, the better inks and papers cost more. Luckily, with Jinhao pens you can save some money because even with the super low cost they perform just as well as much more expensive pens - use that extra money for the ink and paper.

An und für sich ein schöner füller. Jedoch ist er etwas kurz, und daher leider schwer zum handhaben.

Es una pluma bonita y liviana con un plumín que escribe suave. La única pega es que no le puedes poner el cartucho y un cartucho de repuesto.

These are pretty knock offs of Sailor Pro Gear Slim (I own two of those). I bought several of these Jinhaos in different colors. They write excellently! I was surprised at how well they work! The nibs are steel, but write very smoothly. I am very pleased with the 8 pens I bought in different colors. I will buy these as gifts too! I honestly like these more than the gold Sailor nibs which have too much feedback for my tastes. I wanted a broad stub nib in some of them so replaced with a steel #5 stub. All the nibs I tested in the pens I received worked perfectly immediately. The do not dry out quickly. No hard starts. The convertor is honestly better than ones I have for gold nib pens (Like Pilot - love the nibs, hate the convertor). As someone who has lots of fountain pens, several quite expensive gold nib pens too, I am really impressed with these cheap Jinhaos. Their quality far surpasses the price! If you're new to fountain pens, I highly recommend these. If you just love nice pens that write well, buy these. If you want the pretty colors, these are fantastic! I honestly can't think of any negative to these pens. (Just FYI they are on the shorter side, just like the Sailor PGS. I can write easily posted or with cap off.)I am including a picture of my Jinahos and two Sailors. They really do look so similar! I recommend these pens without hesitation!(If anyone is wondering, the pen cases are from Rickshaw Bagworks.)

Hi. I have a small collection of Jinhao pens that I enjoy uncapping to write kitchen lists, notes, and occasionally throw in a doodle, or two, on the side. The majority of the pens I have (a couple of 82’s, one 450 and one “Duofold” homage) have medium nibs and I also have one with a “fine” nib to round things out. My experience has been that their medium nib lays down a nice, smooth, “well lubricated” line that is not overly wet. And the handsome green demonstrator “82” pictured above delivers the same, skip free, easily controllable line that I love to steer across the page. The takeaway is that is difficult to overstate the value of these handsome, smooth writing Jinhao pens. They are an excellent value and, for small money, provide a way to experiment with varieties of ink that may give you pause with other pens you own. Have fun ….
