My friend has a sewing machine and recently did me a huge favor by altering the hem of several pants. In the process of altering some denim jeans, several sewing machine needles broke. I wanted to "thank" my friend for her time and talent by replacing those broken needles. I consulted my cousin and she suggested the Schmetz brand as they are the best (in her opinion). She also suggested including a package of Schmetz brand jean and denim needles. My friend was thrilled by the gift of Schmetz needles! As it turns out, Schmetz is her preferred brand of sewing machine needles, too.

I buy a pack of denim or topstitch needles every time i get a couple bucks to spare.I sew through alot of thick layers and i dont want my needles to break while im sewing through denim or canvas.Denim and canvas are the thickest fabrics i sew with. Flat felled seams are thick bois and are hard to through. But theyre theh strongest seam finish you can do on a sewing machine, so younneed strong needles to combat the challenge.Twill and heavier wools are perfect for these and the top stitch needles as im only using them FOR the decorative top stitch. You can never have too many needles. I remain paranoid that i break my last needle and i have to put off my project until i buy more. So having a bunch of then small packs around when I need them is a life saver.

I made the mistake of trying off brand needles. Never again. These needles are so much better. They don't break easily and sew through thicker fabrics without problems. I will purchase these again.

I bought these to use in my Juki sewing machine and found them to be very good quality. Used them to sew very heavy fabric (canvas coveralls) without any problems no breakage. Would definitely purchase them again and would recommend them to a friend.

UPDATE: I have found the 90/14 Sharp needles to be perfect due to the fact that it has a bigger thread hole so the sewing machine needle threader will tend to work easier due the hook on the machine threader device having a bigger area to fit through. Anyone who has had trouble with the machine threader working knows exactly what I am talking about. Once you get used to to your machine threader working most of the time, you'll find it hard to go back to a smaller sized needle with all the troubles of the threader working on a hit or miss situation. Yes it leaves a bigger hole than the 80/12 but only one size bigger and well worth it - IMHO.The 16/100 denim is perfect for thick denim or anything with seams that have numerous layers of fabric. It is a thick needle so be aware.
