Worked for a couple months before falling off. Until it fell of, it worked great. But disappointing that it didn't last longer

This repair wrap kit was very easy to use, and worked perfectly to help seal the hole in our muffler. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the kit and how well it all came together to solve my problem. Very sturdy final result.

So this woven fabric similar to a cotton gauze roll is embedded with I will call an epoxy. Comes in a foil pouch because as soon as it exposed to air begins to cure. It cures up depending on the air temperature in about 4 hours. The one thing I didn't realize was it takes 24 hours before you're supposed to apply any considerable heat to it. I used this in conjunction with another of their products on my exhaust manifold that had a hole. I put their other product on to kind of fill the hole and then went over that with this to give it some strength to resist the exhaust pressure coming out of the hole. So due to the fact that I had to wrap around one pipe of the manifold I could not get enough wraps as suggested around the section. The product calls for five wraps and I may have gotten three. So I wish it was slightly longer because even on a large diameter exhaust pipe or muffler it would not be enough woven fabric. It conforms easily to irregular shapes being that it's like an Ace bandage. Comes with a piece of foil tape to hold it in place but that stuff is absolutely useless. The embedded cloth is slippery so that tape will not stick in place even if you tape it to itself. I guess the point of the tape is to kind of hold the fabric from slipping apart while curing. I just pulled the fabric as tight as I could as I applied it and made sure that the edges had the "epoxy" smoothed over them so that It may give a stronger bond between layers. This is not a permanent solution for any part of the exhaust system but it will get you through for a while if applied properly. It comes with gloves but the gloves are useless because they are so thin they tear easily. That would suggest getting your own gloves because this is quite a mess to handle due to the amount of epoxy that is embedded.

So what if it is a little messy...it should be so plenty of material for the cloth tape. They give a set of gloves for the hands and spread a little paper under your work and not a problem! This was my second purchase of this product for a hacked together exhaust for my portable generator to get the exhaust [ported out of the garage. Fist kit used and I let it set and it cured at Washington State ambient summer temperature. Last week there was a power failure and i finally used my get and the kit/patch held up just fine, though the aluminum tape came right off with the heat the wrap did not. But the pipe blew off in another spot so my second kit is to secure that splice. This time I used a heat gun to cure the wrap and did not bother with the aluminum tape. The wrap cured very quickly with the heat gun, it is not summer anymore so the extra heat was a good idea. Looking forward to the next power failure, I think I have it nailed! Great product J-B Weld!

Used some pipe clamps, $3.00 at Canadian tire. I recommend you do this too because it’s literally just paste and fabric and personally I don’t trust that, make sure to wire brush everything off too Before you start and wear eye protection. Was fairly easy to use and a really cheap solution. 5/5

I trust the brand, and I've had exhaust repair wrap fail before, so I went with JB Weld. Most repair tape is slightly sticky and has resin that melts and then cures in place. This stuff is fiberglass roving (cloth) that's in a packet of premixed wet epoxy. It's slippery and goopy. It's messy and a little tricky, especially if you don't have a lot of clearance. That said, the wrap is pretty forgiving, so you don't have to be perfect with it. The lightweight nitrile gloves included will probably tear, and I recommend having your own better-weight disposable gloves already. Don't work with your face below the pipe, because you may drip epoxy. Wear workclothes accordingly, and clean off any epoxy that gets on your skin. The pack includes aluminum tape to hold the wrap in place while it cures. I didn't use that -- I used stainless steel zip ties -- so I don't know how well the tape works, but it's probably OK. The epoxy takes a couple of hours to dry unless you sit there with the engine idling to keep the exhaust pipe hot. It seems secure when it's dry. This stuff is rated for higher temperatures than most repair wraps, which is definitely promising.

If your exhaust leak is in a tight spot, which most are, this product is difficult to use. Imagine loosing grip of the roll of mesh and have a goopy drippy mess dangling in your face. However, after a thorough cleaning with a wire brush and 36 grit sandpaper, I did manage to get it wrapped around the crack the developed between the catalytic converter and the pipe. The enclosed aluminum tape? Forget it. Use it for something else. Smooth the repair over good with your hands. Take the pouch it came in and squeeze the remaining compound out like its the very end of your last tube of toothpaste and slather that over the repair are well, massaging it into the mesh,I didn't like the idea of starting the engine and letting it cure with exhaust heat either. Let it cold cure for a couple hours, start the engine and let it run for about 10 minutes, then let it cool off. Then take the vehicle for a short easy drive. Keep your foot out of it to avoid a blowout. Let it completely cool off again, then its business as usual. So far I can't speak for the longevity of this product. I drove it a couple of times, and then it passed the safety inspection. Yesterday I ran the truck pretty hard for about 20 miles, and so far so good!I think the key to a long lasting repair with this product is starting with a clean surface that has been scored to promote better adhesion, and giving it a slow gradual curing with a heat and cool/expansion and contraction cycles.UPDATE: Unless you're just trying to get thru a state inspection, better think twice about this product. I put a little over 100 miles on the truck local driving and it held up OK, but yesterday I took it on a 300 mile road trip. By the time I got home it was getting noisy again. BUT, it did get me thru PA state inspection. I don't have to worry about fixing it until warm weather gets here again.

Don't waste your time and money. I did everything as per the instructions and it lasted a week before it leaked again.Very disappointed.
