Purchased this cartridge filter to replace an old Hayward DE filter. I opened the box to dissemble to: (1) make it easier to pack to my pool equipment pad and (2) to inspect the cartridges. The "clamp band" around the middle was almost impossible to get off because the elongated brass hex bolt was totally seized up on the threaded rod. When I tried to get it back on, there was no way it was going to happen. Took it back that afternoon to UPS for return to Amazon and they were great about the refund. I subsequently bought another cartridge filter that takes a single, 200 sq.ft. filter. It has a simple "ring" that just twists around the filter body that takes about 30 seconds to get on and off. As I said, this may have been a defective unit, but buyer beware.

Took some time to get the fittings sorted out but the filter works great. Easy to open and clean. I am coming from an older style DE filter with the cloth filters. This is so much better.
