Make sure you're ordering the correct valve. If using a PacFab/Pentair FNS DE filter with 1 1/2 inch connections, this is the correct part. The center-to-center distance on the connections is 7 1/2". The valve body has 6 bolts. If yours has 10 bolts, it's the 2" valve. The 1 1/2" 261173 has an 8" spacing and does not work with the FNS DE filter. 261177 (this item) is the correct model for these filters: FNS, FNS Plus & NSP DE Filters

Installed easily, and works fine, but I realized when I went to drain the filter tank that this valve lacks the screw-in plug to drain the tank. I have to loosen the two connections to the tank and pull them awayslightly to completely empty the tank.

Exact replacement for my 12-year old Pentair FNS Plus 36 DE filter multiport valve. Simple replacement and it's nice to have a valve that works again. I was thinking about just replacing the gasket but the price of the entire unit it was well worth the investment for an entirely new valve. Note; that the valve does not come with a pressure gauge.

Like the first review said, I was losing water and a lot of it. I live in Houston so evap rate is high but started thinking that maybe the multi-valve was leaking by and after reading was sure. I replaced and problem solved. It takes a BIT longer than 5 minutes because you have to cut and glue PVC but top to bottom around 15-20 minutes.

My multiport valve, being very old, started to stick and wouldn't close all the way in any position, due mostly to rust of the interior mechanism, spring, etc., and consequently would leak through the discharge port in the filter position. Was looking just to replace the valve assembly, which would just take the removal of 6 screws and nuts, off with the old, on with the new and reinstall the 6 screws and nuts. This unit is the exact OEM replacement, to include the decals with the proper port position labeling. The big bonus however, is that not only did I get the valve assembly (which is only what I expected based on the picture), it also came with the pvc body that connects to the DE filter and pump with the threaded nuts, etc., (which is another item on Amazon costing an additional $15) so I have this in case I need to replace that piping. Additionally this was prime shipping. It took me less than 5 minutes to replace my old valve with this new unit. Very happy with the purchase and the transaction.
