Couple watching iView 3500STBIII - Pass digital signals to converter box to your analog TV

How It Works

The iView 3500STBIII works by acquiring digital channels coming from ATSC, Over-the-Air, or ClearQAM, unencrypted digital cable transmission. The HD content that comes out allows users to receive unscrambled digital cable signals with the use of a monthly cable provider.

From Analog to Digital

The iView Digital Converter box automatically converts the signal to be compatible with your analog unit. Analog TV owners won't need to get themselves a new TV if they don't want to.

The iView 3500STBIII has built-in QAM capabilities that allow you to watch unscrambled, unencrypted cable channels and supports Over-the-Air (OTA), which allows the user to receive some unencrypted digital cable channels, also known as "in-the-clear" channels.

Our iView 3500STBIII has a 3/4 channel switch you can toggle in the back to access analog channels in countries and areas where analog signals are still present. Broadcasting is still alive and well, even in your old TV.

iView 35000STBIII Converter Box

ATSC and QAM Capabilities

OTA (Over-the-Air)

The iView Digital Box works great in ATSC, otherwise known as over-the-air or local channels. Once plugged in, the 3500STBIII gives you a wider range of channels you can view, with noticeably higher picture clarity. Just connect to your antenna line, scan for channels, and you're ready to go.

QAM Capability

The iView 3500STBIII comes with QAM, or Quadrature Amplitude Modulation, capability, a format that most cable companies use to transmit and encode their signals.

Our converter boxes are able to pick up ClearQAM channels with a monthly cable provider that offers unscrambled, unencrypted cable.

Watch local OTA channels, unscrambled digital programming and possibly some bonus channels (depending on your location). HD and SD channels become unlocked the moment you plug and successfully setup the iView 3200STB-N in. Picture quality will entirely depend on the converter unit's ability to acquire signal, and this is where iView's offering shines.

iView 35000STBIII Digital Converter Box - Media Function - Playback for movies, pictures and music

Universal Media Player

The iView 3500STBIII can act as a universal media player to play videos and music.

The 3500STBIII sports the following video decoding capabilities- MPEG-2 MP in NS, MPEG-4 ASP, SP, In DivX 3.11, 4.x, 6.x, VC-1, FLV and H.264 HP format.

To use the media player functions, it is required to connect a USB Flash Drive or External Hard Drive to the box. The drive needs to be no bigger than 2TB in size and formatted to Fat32 or NTFS.

If the storage device has any media already saved on it, those media files can be played on the Iview Box. Selecting “Pictures” will display a slide show of any pictures in JPG, BMP, or PNG format. Selecting “Music” will turn the device into a music player. This music player can play any music files in WMA, MP3, or AAC format. The final option, “Video” will allow playback of any videos in AVI, MKV, MPG, and MKV formats. During video playback, you can press the green SCHD button, on the remote, to cycle between preview and full-screen modes.

iView 35000STBIII Converter Box - DVR - Record your favorite TV Programs

DVR Capabilities

Record digital content while you're away with the iView 3500STBIII.

Connect the box to a USB Flash Drive or External Hard Drive to start recording with DVR. Plug your external drive and record movies and shows to playback later straight to your device.

The DVR function can be done two ways: A recording can start and stop using the red REC and STOP buttons on the remote, respectively, allowing for impromptu recordings at any time. The device can also schedule recordings by pressing the green SCHD button on the remote. From there, the channel, start time, and end time can be set and the box will automatically record and end at the scheduled times. This can also be set to record daily (every day, including weekends), weekly (once a week), or just once. However, the box’s recording functions are limited to one at a time and can only have no more than 30 scheduled recording jobs saved onto the box’s memory.

This is my third one of this brand since we needed converter boxes. They last about 3-4 years. The dad thing, though, it's that when you switch them out, everything you've saved is no longer accessible. I email the mfr when I switched out the first one and they said that's part of the design. So everything I saved but hadn't watched yet was gone. Now I just expect that. You can pull things off onto your computer with a program designed to convert it, but it's not worth the hassle. Something that's longer is broken into sections and you have to find all the sections... Unless they've changed that, that's what I expect. But as a tuner, it was straight forward to set up. It took longer for it to scan my channels than to plug everything in! The images are clear. Oh, of it doesn't pick up all your stations, just rescan at another time. Even though I love in a major city, O know my CBS station can have interference in the evenings and is iffy during bad weather. It was windy and snowing the day I got this one and it didn't pick up our CBS station. The next morning I rescanned and it was fine. Just be aware of that.

I bought this with intnetion to pause live TV. It cannot do so. I watch live sports and enjoy pausing to rewind certain plays. My last TV could do this, 'upgraded' tv cannot. So I bought this based upon advertising and frankly, it is horrible.Immediate reaction, curious layout with USB slot on the front. initial setup is straightforward, but it took an awfully long time to scan for local channels. I live in an area with strong live TV signal, so a little surprised it took so long. The interface is 1980's graphics. Very retro - if you like that.the instructions are extremely poor. You will need a USB drive to pause live TV, which is called timeshift on this device. Multiple issues:-it will only recognize older USB drives. It simply would not recognize any of my newer drives, and nothing over 8GB. Extremely odd.-it takes forever to format a drive-it will only recognize 8 gb drives, and then splits them into two 4gb sectors-it takes several seconds to initiate pause, and then buffers horribly to try to rewind, and in the process does not record anymore live tv.Put simply, this cannot really pause live TV or record a show, despite advertising this function.

We love this Iview digital converter box! It has allowed us to get additional tv channels and the remote works well right from our sofa which is about 10 feet away! The converter box we replaced was not as responsive as this one is. It was very reasonably priced too-excellent choice!

When I first plugged this in and turned on my Samsung monitor that I can now use as a TV, I was totally mesmerized. The quality of the picture is nothing short of amazing. I was literally sitting in front of the setup in a trance - I was so captivated by the lifelike qualities of the picture, the details, etc. On the other hand, the "TV guide" leaves much to be desired. It's archaic but serves the purpose if you have the patience to navigate through the steps. The menu is fleeting and you have to keep pressing to see the schedule or show program details. There is also a meter to display the show's progress (how much time is left) that is similar to the volume meter. Haven't tried the DVR functions yet but if the remote function's feedback is any indication, you just need to give it some time to respond - as if it's buffering. Pushing a button on the remote may take 5 seconds plus at times to respond. This IVIEW-3500STB III, ATSC Digital Converter Box is great but there is a leaning curve. Be patient.

The good:Sturdy construction, looks great, one of the best remote controls I've seen on these budget devices. It picks up channels really well (if you have reception). The program guide is great and very useful. With each channel you can press info and get a signal meter, a feature I found really useful when diagnosing signal problems around the house. If all you need it for is watching live TV this little box has all you need..... but.The Bad:Unfortunately one of its key features, and the one I needed it for was completely unusable. That is the scheduled recording feature. Setting it up is really easy as you can find your program in the electronic guide and with one press of the button, it's scheduled. This, however is where it all goes wrong. The scheduled recordings rarely end up working. Most of the time the machine never comes out of standby and misses the recording completely. When it does work there is a very annoying bug. If you schedule recordings that start one day and go past midnight (ex. start Friday 11:30pm, stop Saturday 12:30am), if they recording starts, it does not stop. It just keeps on recording until it runs out of memory (flash drive, USB hard drive, whatever you connected to it). The only thing that works well is if you go to the wanted channel and manually press record, and stop, like an old school VCR. I have contacted their customer support, they are aware of this issue but have no time frame as of when (or if) this might get resolved. In conclusion:Great little tuner box for watching live TV and doing live recording. Completely unusable as a scheduled recording device.
