Working to replace the rear shocks on my 2003 Honda Element, and the bolts were rusted solid to both the inside of the bushing and the welded nut on the trailing arm. I had to sawzall through them, which left me with a piece of bolt that was firmly stuck in the trailing arm nut. I drilled (awkward location), and used two or three other bolt extractors but couldn’t get the vice grips to hold them strongly enough. I wrestled with drilling and extraction attempts for ~2 hours. Finally, broke down and bought this set to use with a box wrench. After a couple of mins with the propane torch, and on the first try, the bolt turned and I could finally get it out. Success, and very great relief. Despite other reviews, the smaller bit was strong enough to work - I just took my time and lots of heat. So glad I bought this, my car is back on the road now and I’m a happy weekend mechanic with this set.

Spendy, but they don't expand the busted stud in the hole, and that right there is worth my money. I've gone thru 3 sets like this, and they all were far superior to the traditional ez outs..

Excellent extractor set. High quality and they work the first time. Living in an area that rusts things fairly quickly these extractors are a huge convenience and time saver.

I was attempting to perform a CVT fluid replacement on a 2016 Subaru Impreza. Embarrassingly, I ended up purchasing this set after I stripped the T8 hex socket of the fill/check plug.I initially tried a smaller size within the set which appeared to be going well. I seated the bit into the plug with a few taps from a ball peen hammer and carefully dug the bit in flush with a ratchet; slow and steady. However, the bit was approaching the bottom of its threads without the plug relenting so I switched to the next bit size. This larger size eventually did it. I'm unsure if the initial bit used 'primed' the plug so be aware of this.A few important things to note:* I did not drill into the center of the plug as suggested* Minimal rust penetrant was used* Absolutely no heat was applied* This was performed with temperatures at ~18F; dead of winter in the northeast US in an unheated garage* The bit that loosened the plug was not biting squarely into said plug (user error - minimal working room)* The plug was heavily rusted and last loosened by myself ~2.5 years ago and torqued to factory spec at 39 ft-lbsIn spite of all the above, this set did the trick and allowed me to change out that infamous CVT fluid. I can say that I'm extremely satisfied with this product. Hopefully I won't need it in the future but I'm extremely happy to know that it's available for other plugs if needed. If you can spare the extra money, I would suggest purchasing it proactively so it's already on hand. With 25 pieces in 1/32" increments (starting at 5/32"), this kit should satisfy most use cases and appears to be undamaged after use. It appears as though it will stand up to the test of time.Negatives (one star removed):* The etching on a few of the bits was marred on delivery making their size borderline illegible* The case was partially opened upon deliveryPositives:* Works as advertised under non-ideal conditions* Comes with a fairly rugged carrying case which locks closed and with minimal movement of the bits inside so they stay organized during transport* Should satisfy most, if not all use cases for the average car owner given sizes discussed aboveBe aware that as pictured, they are not socketed. They are of various sizes as well so you will need various wrenches or sockets to accommodate all bits in the set.Good luck with your extraction! Patience is a virtue!

Amazing! Worked like a charm to remove a (very!) stuck screw on my bike. I had tried to tighten to specs using a torque wrench, but ended up shredding the screw head (I guess I was doing it wrong or the bit was bad). I ordered this based on review, tried it and it worked immediately. Even better the piece didn't show any traces of wear after removing two stuck screws that way. Highly recommended, this is some quality stuff.

Not much to really say here. I had a stripped out screw in a machine body. Its surroundings were aluminum and plastic internals keeping electrical contacts and connectors made flame or heat out of the question. Took a cobalt bit drilled the just a small center hole of the striped out Philips screw to maximize contact.Used a small ball peen hammer to tap the right size extractor and gave it one extra good hit to really secure it once it bottomed out. Took a socket wrench with correct size SAE socket and slowly began reversing while keeping my left hand pressing down on top of the socket head. After a good amount of effort I was treated with a loud POP and the screw safely backed out w/o incident. If I had to drill it out I would have risked the drill bit wandering into the softer surrounding aluminum and pretty much damage things beyond reasonable compare.I like this set better than the ones that have a 3/8” square hole placed into the bottom because these hold more rigid and do not break or chip from hammer impacts. I’ve seen those sets with the square hole shatter from an electric impact gun, which shouldn’t be surprising as Neither this set or others are impact rated. However I can say that this set when used with an impact have only ever had their tips shear off instead of the body shattering.

Real time saver and worked like a charm on a stripped 5mm hex head screw. Tapped in easily in a tight space where a drill would not fit. Worked in 10 seconds on a screw that held up a motorcycle project and frustrated me for 2 days. (The time it took to order and receive this set) Not only removed the stripped screw easily, but bit so hard into the metal I had to use vise grip pliers to get the extracted screw off the end of my extractor. I'll try tapping even lighter next time. Contains a good variety of sizes which are stamped legibly on the product. Only Fractional sizes are stamped, but product works on metric as well. Made in America quality and big money saver considering time factor and other expensive alternatives. Highly recommend. Wish I'd have purchased these years ago and saved myself some frustration.
