I used a cup of this product to help revitalize our water softner. It's a little difficult to dissolve in tap water to add to the softner but seemed to help. The water feels more slick. I'll wait a few months and give it a second treatment.

I have a septic system with 2 sump pumps. Rust heavily collects around the pump. This product knocks out all that rust amazingly quickly. My next door neighbor recommended RustOut. I have used RustOut for two months (once a month application) and it made a huge difference in the efficiency of my pumps and drains.

For years I'd not realized that we should be flushing or cleaning the reservoir in our whole house water softener whenever we are refilling the salt and at times our water sure would get smelling something horrid. Plus, with our well water being EXTREMELY full of minerals, even though the softener did help to soften our water considerably, we would still have red stains show up in the shower, tub, sink and washing machine over time that really took a lot of scrubbing (and chemicals) to remove. When I finally saw that we should be flushing or cleaning the reservoir on a fairly regular basis, I researched some and went with adding a solution of this Iron OUT powder and what a difference it has made!! We now add a solution of Iron OUT (1/4 cup powder per 40 lbs of salt, mixed in a gallon container of water) to our softener every time we refill the salt tank, the water is softer then ever and we've had no new red stains at all, nor have I noticed any rotten egg smell. PLUS, before using Iron Out, when I tested our house water with the little test strips, it would always read off the chart it was so bad. Now, after adding Iron OUT to our salt refill procedure, the test strips now always read at the lowest level on the test strips.I've now been adding Iron OUT for the past few years (and just now reviewing it as I most often like to give things a good try before reviewing, but this even has gone much longer than my normal wait time before reviewing, so it's been well tested at our household and I can honestly say it really works for us!! This is an old but, recently discovered product for me! I learned from maintaining my Water Well Softener that; this product can assist us in getting rid of rust. And-to think all those years of scrubbing my toilets could have been avoided. This was recommended from a friend to clean my stained toilet. It worked perfectly, within 15 mins. I have now used it for Whitening some white clothing and cleaning up an old lampshade that had turned yellow. Worked fantastically.

I have "city" water, but I had started to get brown, rust-like stains appearing here and there on my white towels, like what I would see years ago, when we had well water.These stains would would not come out with any of the stain removing products, home remedies, bleach that I used. I was very upset, because the stains were ruining my expensive towels.As a last-ditch effort, I laundered the towels with some of my old Iron Out, using it as directed on the bottle. It complety removed all of the brown stains (the towels in question had been washed and dried repeatedly, so the stains were set in), and afterward, I made an effort to immediately remove the towels as soon as the cycle finished to prevent more stains from appearing, as I think my old washer's drum is rusted and it is what is causing the issue.You only need half a cup, and while the product doesn't smell good, you can toss in a pod once the whites have soaked for a bit, and they'll come out smelling as they usually do.

Really, really worked. Most of the rust came off first time from the toilet and just went over it again to take off the last traces.
