This is for the IQ-Rhein EQUATOR System.
The Clear Equator Caps have a retention strength of 1.8kg/3.9lbs. The required tool for replacement of locator caps is the Universal Retention Caps Insertion/Extraction Tool (Part Number 488EIP-IQ). These caps are only compatible with the IQ-Rhein OT Equator System. Clear Caps are available in 4 packs or 20 packs. The Following Graphic is a comparison of the Clear Caps with the alternative Caps for the IQ-Rhein OT Equator System.
FAQ
The Equator Caps I got are too big/small. Are those sold here any different?
- All Equator Caps are the same sizes. They vary in retention strength, not size. If caps do not fit, then wrong system caps have been purchased. It is the best to determine which system you have prior to purchasing any caps.
Is it better to get the strongest retention caps!
- No it is not. Correct retention caps are determined for each person individually based on a number of factors. Mainly comfort and length of time caps last before they no longer hold. The target time frame is 12 months, but no more than that. Most patients do not need the strongest retention. They just need the follow proper technique to maintain and take care of the Caps they have.
How long should my new caps last and need replacement?
- Original genuine caps designed to function for about 12 months. Proper maintenance and regular cleaning is the key. If caps last you less than 12 months, then you may want to consider getting next level strength caps. Once you reach 12 months of comfortable use stay with that color.
- Make sure to use thumbs to press the fixture down into place in the first few days after replacement of caps and NOT jaw to snap in place.
Do I need a tool to remove and replace caps?
- Yes you need the Universal Multi-System Insertion/Removal Tool (part number 488EIP-IQ)
- Without a tool you most likely will damage the Caps at the very beginning and they will not work.
Caps I bought do not fit. Can they be returned?
- The only way caps do not fit is when they are purchased for the wrong system. If manufacturer's seal is broken, package cannot be returned as it is considered a HAZMAT.
- Check which caps you need and for which system prior to purchasing. Our pre-sale support is available if needed.

I have full upper dentures. My Dentist had to retire so after nearly 2 years the uppers fit was not so good. I tried with the quote standard Locater caps and they did not fit. So after a lot of research I ordered these. Took 10 min to remove and replace. The Dentist said 80$ per cap--I have 5 implants so 400$ for just one replacement. I replaced 4 and the fit is perfect and sooo much more comfortable. I have ordered the 20 pack so am covered for the next 3 years. Make sure of your size. the tool was 72$ and was a coinvent luxury but is why it only took 10 minutes. So over the next 4 years will save about 1200 not bad

It's nice to be able to remove and add the cups myself rather than going to the dentist a couple hours away just to have them swapped out. I had gotten the yellow ones thinking that would hold but they didn't. These clear ones hold good! You have to use the correct tool to take them in and out which is the Universal Retention Caps Insertion/Extraction Tool for 2.5mm Balls/Locators/Equators/OD Secure 488EIP-IQ. I put all this information in because it took a bit to find.

These are easy to put in with the tool and so far they have not loosened up like the softer pink ones did. Since my dentist wanted to charge $85 per retentive cap, these are much better.
