I recommend this automatic feeder. The iPettie Hanging Automatic Pet Feeder HW18 is pretty straightforward and easy to configure and use, with the help of the associated Air.ai app. The included documentation is clear and well-written, making initial assembly a breeze.I recommend test fitting the two food outlet components (chutes) with your cage or enclosure before proceeding with the rest of setup. One of the two included should fit any commercially available cage or enclosure. In general, if your cage has primarily vertical slats, you'll use the smaller chute. If you're enclosure has horizontal slats, you can use either. If using the smaller chute, you will not be able to use feed mixes that include larger components, like banana chips or larger pieces of dried fruit. The hopper will hold approximately 6-7 cups by volume. The top of the food hopper includes a compartment for a desiccant packet (included) that helps keep the contents dry by absorbing water vapor. That's a great feature I had not considered when looking for an automatic feeder. It reduces the possibility of mold developing in the hopper. Our guinea pigs eat enough that we need to refill the hopper regularly, but that desiccant will make a big difference for any of you with small rodents that will need significant time to eat through the supply in the hopper. Before installing the feeder, I recommend attaching the feeding bowl to the hanging plate so you may better assess placement in your enclosure. Once you found the preferred location, you may remove the feeding dish until you've mounted the feeder. The included USB-C cable is only 3 ft long, so remember to consider your proximity to an electrical outlet before installing the feeder. If desired, you can replace the included USB A to C cable with a longer one if your nearest outlet is further away. You can install 2 D-cell batteries as a backup power source for during power outages, but the feeder will operate without them. The app even shows the level of charge remaining on those batteries.During setup, you will use the Air.ai app to add the feeder to your local wireless network. Note that your network must support connections at 2.4 GHz to connect to the feeder. Our access point simultaneously supports both 2.4 and 5 GHz connections, so we didn't have any issues. It should also be noted that the device keeps the network configuration information when unplugged, even if no backup batteries are installed. It appears those backup batteries are just to power the motor that drives the automatic feeder. I've only tested that reconnect-after-outage feature during relatively short outages. I don't know if the device will keep configuration during an extended outage. Should it lose its configuration, it is simple to set the device up once again using the app.Once attached to the enclosure and powered, you may use the app to dispense one or more servings at any time. The app also allows you to schedule feedings, requiring no further intervention. Specify a number of portions, a time, and save the plan. If you want multiple feedings in a day, you need to add each feeding separately as a different plan. The app allows you to designate weather a plan should be applied to specific days of the week, or all days of the week. We have ours set to feed twice daily, at 06:30 and 18:30 (the app uses 24-hour clock format), and our daughter typically feeds them one additional time manually. Serving size is determined by the partitions on the dispensing rotor. If you choose one serving, the rotor advances 1/4 of a turn, emptying one compartment. If two servings, two compartments are dispensed, and so on.The plastic feeding bowl is locked in place by a sliding mechanism, ensuring a secure attachment. It is designed so that the bowl can be removed for cleaning without needing to unmount the entire feeder. The bowl features a stainless steel lip, to prevent rodents from chewing on the edge of the bowl. Our piggies are in our daughter's room. If she ends up away for an extended period of time, so that she'd miss a manual feeding, all I need to do is open the app and initiate an additional feeding. It's quite nice. The iPettie Hanging Automatic Pet Feeder HW18 appears to provide a good value for its asking price. It can help ensure that your little companions always have food, either on a daily basis or when you go away for a vacation or a weekend away.

I use it to feed my ratties when I can’t be home on time. It needs to be a wire cage to mount the rather large feeder. Since it’s big, I can fill it with a large amount of food that may last up to a week or more. The feeder is powered by a 5V USB cable, and I can insert two D batteries as backup during power outages. I fill the feeder from the top, and the lid has a compartment where I can place a desiccant sachet to keep the food dry. The manual suggests downloading the AIR.ai app from the Google Play store, but I noticed icons in the manual that are identical to those in the Smart Life app. Instead of installing another app, I linked the feeder to the Smart Life app, and it worked. Linking took only a few seconds. In the app, I can either manually feed or set a feeding schedule. The portion size is quite large, so I usually schedule 3 portions a day. From the manual, I know it can run on two D batteries but goes offline during that time. So, it’s important to program a schedule before leaving for an extended period. The feeder keeps my ratties well-fed, and they don’t have to wait hungry for me to feed them.

In the Netherlands these devices are almost non existent, even though there is plenty of choice for cats and dogs. This device it suitable for rabbits as they can't reach the essential parts. We defined a schedule for feeding twice per day and it just works. We won't leave the rabbits alone for days, but this gives us some extra freedom. Two feature requests though:* option to define the portion size when using the physical button (standard portion for our rabbits is 8 feedings)* better smart home integrations. I tried to connect it to my smart home but this does not work.

This was super easy to set up and has truthfully been one of my favorite purchases lately. Continuous gravity feeders are not an option for my bun as he will just never stop eating. So this has truly been so perfect for those days I’m out of town or working long days. It holds quite a bit of food, dispenses well, and is easy to control from my phone. Some had mentioned that it is big and bulky, but I find that it holds an appropriate amount of food in the reservoir and is thin enough that I don’t find it to be too “bulky”. I did have to cut a few wires on his cage to ensure it fit correctly but it was no big deal, as his cage has very thin/close wiring.

I have a raging hungry rabbit who is a menace to feed as she tries to get the food in her mouth mid pour. Then smack you out of the way to get her face in the bowl, so I end up pouring food all over her head. She then inhales all the food and spends the rest of the day annoyed at why I'm not feeding her. Also tricks babysitters to feed her extra portions.Enter this smart wifi feeder. It works fine - holds a lot of food, which is great for my 13lb giant rabbit. I found 6 portions feeds 1/2cup - but this may vary with pellets and inconsistent with larger pellets. My food is close to the maximum size (Science Selective Adult Rabbit food) it certainly prefers smaller food and dispenses those first. There is a button to press on the feeder to feed a portion, but the app is better to feed multiple portions and make a schedule.I use an Xpen and the feeder screws on perfectly and securely. The feeder comes with a drying pack, but you will likely need to purchase more when needed.Cons. The app could be better. I have it set for notifications and it just doesn't send them. The clock in the app is wrong. It says Jan 20 2025 is Sunday, when in fact is is actually Monday. I have it set to 3 feedings a day and the 2nd day it didn't do one of the feedings at all. It hasn't done that error again, but I have to watch it. Combined with the weird issues with large pellets that it should fit, this feeder could be better.Pros. My rabbit sees me as a human who plays with her instead of being an mean person who doesn't feed her. She actually likes me more.
