Was relatively easy to remove old clock motor & install new one, but be careful NOT to drop the tiny screws.

The motor is easy to install if you: 1) have a very small torx head screw driver to unscrew the motor, 2) are careful not to drop any screws, and 3) properly unsnap the release clip at the top of the timer mechanism. It is only necessary to unscrew two screws to remove the outside panel, one screw to remove the plastic shield, and two torx head screws to remove the motor. It is also necessary to push the release clip at the top of the timer mechanism to release it. The brass torx head screws are tiny and if they are dropped they may be very difficult to find. Estimated repair time is 15-20 minutes if no screws are dropped or 1-2 hours (or more) if screws are dropped or lost. The motor I received was a WG1573-5 model rather than the WG1573-10D which was advertised. The WG1573-5 model matched what I had in my timer and operates correctly.

After 15 plus years my Intermatic timer for my pool pump stopped working. After checking it out I saw the clock motor was not running. Found replacement part on Amazon and at a great price. It was simple to install on took 20 minutes. Timer works like new. Fit perfect an original replacement. One thing, the screws holding the motor in are tiny torx head brass screws. Have something like a big rag or cardboard underneath the timer when replacing the motor. I accidentally dropped one. It took me longer to find that screw than it took to replace the motor.

Had to replace for my pool pump. This was a perfect match and now I am back up and running. Hopefully this will last just as long as the original one. Install was straight forward. Turned off the power, removed the timer, took a few screws off the was holding the motor and made the swap.

Cheaper than a new whole timer - Easy to install - Fix my problem

Buying this motor is definitely the lowest cost way to fix a stopped T104 timer. Versus the 1x cost of this motor, the full mechanism costs about 2.6x, the mechanism in an indoor box is about 2.9x, and the mechanism in an outdoor box is about 4.2x. But take your pick, even the full mechanism is probably a third or so of what the average pool guy would charge to replace it.Changing out just the motor takes just a few more minutes than swapping the full mechanism, and that is just a few minutes itself. The motor screws require do require a T10 bit, preferably with a thin shank, or getting creative with a small flat blade. Mine did not require tapping out a new hole to mount the new motor, which some other reviewers had with their timers.A few words on the part and the quality: I didn’t buy the old timer, but I could tell from date codes that my old timer stopped after about 14 years. I consider that relatively short for a timer motor, but maybe to be expected in an outdoor, hot and humid location.Just multimeter tests on the old motor show that it seems to have good winding resistance and insulation resistance, so I don’t think it failed electrically. I think probably corrosion or maybe dried up lubricant early in the gear train (where there is more speed and a lot less torque) locked up the drive. If I get time, I’ll make some more tests, open it up and will update this review with anything significant I fund.Looking at the new vs. the old (made in U.S.A.) motor, the new one looks pretty identical, with equal build quality. But what really makes the new one look cheap, low quality, etc. is that it the top markings are applied with a rubber stamp, not very neatly. Mine actually looks better than the picture provided with the listing, but it still looks smeared and pretty sloppy. If anyone from Intermatic reads these reviews, this does not speak ā€œqualityā€ for a product where you moved the factory to a low labor cost location! Or for any other product. And it should be very easy to correct.
