I hired her HandyMan to install it, but it was a replacement for a prior similar unit earlier model. Everything went fine without difficulty.

Only unpleasent thing is, remove, and new install, is a close two a 2 hr. job. I had a lic. pluming contractor, on site to install. I would say, quality, is the same, only plastic, is used more, than my last same model, of 10 years use. would still buy same brand. This model is a top grade 1. they are as high as 369,dallors, look around, amazon, will be everyone, free del. tack on shipping, from other suppliers, and bump it another 50 bucks.

The first review I wrote, I blew up the disposal. To be fair, the manufacturer did a lousy job with the information and installation instructions on this.1. Do not purchase this disposal if you want to be able to plug it in, it's a hardwire unit only as the batch feed that comes with it is wired only for hardwire, you can wire in your own plug, but I wouldn't.You can purchase any of the batch feed units and add the batch feed kit with plug-in module separately.2. The instructions are not clear and take some thought and working with to get everything assembled. If you purchase any of the EZ series, , when you go to install the mounting assembly, it's easier if you take 2 of the screws out and unscrew the 3rd one more than half way. Then you can use masking tape to tape the mount to the bottom of the sink while you install the snapring. Also, I used a stack of books to raise the disposer so I wouldn't have to hold it as high and for as long. Also, when you follow the instructions to remove the collar from the unit so you can install the batch column, even though it doesn't tell you, you will have to reinstall the collar on the new batch feed unit.I finally got the unit installed.2 months later, the disposal is installed, no problems with it. I do like the magnetic batch feed. It works easier than some other brands.

I rarely write reviews. This is not my first Insinkerator, or Evo Cover Control. I discounted the reviews commenting on the poor instructions, thinking that maybe people missed something...but nope - the instructions are among the worst I've seen. Certain steps were totally missing. Later I found there was a second set of directions too, although that didn't explain everything either. Finally, after wasting several hours trying to figure it out, I had it assembled. When I flipped on the power, the Insinkerator started right up! Great! Except the cover was not in place. So it runs great, just won't stop, and doesn't use the cover...I've now wasted a couple more hours reassembling, double-checking, and reading the internet and various manuals and You Tube videos. Still same result. Pretty annoying to buy a 'premium' product to find out it's not so premium. (If the folks at Insinkerator want to tell me what I did wrong, I'm happy to change my review. But for now, I'm thinking the switch is faulty). Disappointing, plus now I can't even talk to someone about it until Monday when their customer service is open (today is Saturday). I love not being able to use my kitchen sink!! Not...**Upgraded from 2 to 4 stars. The product itself is good. If I rate just the appliance, and not the company it's probably closer to 5 stars. After the disaster above, and several failed answers from their technical support, I finally got someone on the phone who sent me, and explained the correct instructions for the wiring, which I wouldn't have figured out without the diagram. Can't say why it didn't come with it, or why there are separate instructions to begin with, but with the correct instructions it's actually pretty simple. The black wire connector was pretty mangled from pulling out the wires from previously failed attempts - they were great about sending me a new one. All I can say is that if you get all the instructions, it's relatively easy to install yourself.

This lid operated disposal is about 1/2 as noisy as my old InSinkErator (which lasted over 20 years). It is a little clunkier to operate the lid than the old unit, but I think the stopper will be way more durable in the long run. Installation was not super easy, the instructions are not that great with this particular set up. But if I can figure it out, so can you. The biggest downside to this unit is that it is 2-3 inches longer than the originals, and that puts the waste outlet very close to level with my drain stub. Mine was just enough higher to get away with it. But be careful, the disposal outlet has to be above your drain line or it will never empty.
