Loose where it shouldn't be, tight and binding where it shouldn't be. Overall this is a great case of "you get what you pay for". I won't be buying "Zerone" garbage ever again, pay attention to the fact that they basically hide their brand name, sure sign something's wrong.

The anvils are not ground to a circular profile, do not mate evenly, and are not even parallel(!); they are splayed outward towards the tips. There is at least 0.03 mm end play in the thimble threads. Don't waste your money on these, they are pretty well useless junk.

Micrometer's Setting was Way Off. But that's OK; their Adjustable. I used the included Spanner to Reset the Thimble, as one does. Thimble was found to be Unusually Stiff and wouldn't Rotate Far Enough. Then I noticed another Spanner Hole on the Thimble which turn out to be a Locking Screw (Assumed to Lock the Thimble in Place). After loosing this Screw, the Thimble could now be Rotated Far Enough to Finish Resetting Micrometer. (There should have been a Manual included, as this feature is unusual & unexpected). Now I'd Discovered that the Locking Screw Behaved as though its Threads were Stripped. Should I Return the Micrometer or Attempt Repairs. I took a chance on a possibly foolish repair. Applied Loctite to the end of the Thimble at its Joint. Success! Also, Cases' Foam Padding is not as shown. Merely two very thin sheets of mussy open cell foam. No support or provision for holding Spanner Wrench or Gage.

This one costed me about $30 after tax, approx 1/8 the price of the same spec from Mitutoyo. The measuring jaws are part of the stainless steel of the body except for the measuring side of the jaws having hardened material or carbide. But the surface is kind of rough and not perfect half circled curve. For Mitutoyo one, these measuring jaws are entirely carbide little cylinder rods so that can be used as measuring surface and less prone to error when holding in different direction or angles against the measured object. The sleeve and thimble look smooth and good. The scales are neatly marked. But the ratchet stop is not smooth at all.The accompanied calibration ring seems accurate when I measured it with Mitutoyo caliper. In measuring objects, make sure apply the same turns on ratchet stop as during measuring the calibration ring.Overall opinion: it’s cheap, low quality but could still be usable if proper calibration is made and right operation is established — know how to hold the micrometer so that the measuring jaws have proper and constant contact to the measuring object surface, right pressure used when turning the thimble and the ratchet stop. Or after lock the clamp in each measuring, use a good caliper to verify the distance between the two jaws of the micrometer. This usually could avoid dramatic errors in using the micrometer alone. You may use this cheap piece as a learning tool to know an inside micrometer before you decide investing in serious one such as those produced by Mitutoyo or Starrett. To achieve a precision metrology, quality tools from those brand names always turn out to be the most economic spending.

Definitely not what is pictured or described. Plastic case, markings on instrument don't match the images.Build quality is subpar. When I got it, it was very stiff. Just using the ratchet it wouldn't rotate without engaging the ratcheting mechanism. Couldn't even tell if it was calibrated to the supplied 5 mm ring.Decided to go all out and disassemble and try to get it functional. Found the moving pin/jaw alignment blade was to tight, the slotted screw for adjusting was damaged at the factory. Removing the differential barrel was EXTREMELY difficult, they really jammed it on at the factory. The fixed barrel set screw slot is also damaged. The differential screw collar was jammed on to tight. The differential screw had debris in all it's threads. After full disassembly and cleaning and reassembly I was able to get everything to move smoothly. But the moving jaw wiggles because if I tighten the alignment blade to take out the wiggle then it doesn't turn smoothly.Checking the pin grind, they are not parallel (have a taper to them).Testing the accuracy after, the best that I can achieve is that it is ALWAYS 0.04 to 0.05 mm over (trying to account for the pin taper). Not worth sending back. Will use them in conjunction with a good micrometer. Open them up in a bore, tighten the locking screw (which is also to loose), then measure the pins with an outside micrometer.

Super cheap. If they had spent a little more time on the fit and finish it might be a better tool. It will work for my current use. But you definitely get what you pay for with this one.

Relatively accurate, with some calibration out of the box. Threading on the screws is a little chattery and rough in patches, but this isn’t a Starrett or Mitutoyo. Gets the job done with decent repeatability on measurements (+/- 0.05mm).
