Bought this after positive experience with several other Inkbird products. Fresh alkaline batteries only last 10 days to 2 weeks.Sent the first one back and tried a replacement. Same hardware version, same result.I contacted the company, and they sent several email inquiries asking about what type of batteries I used, whether bluetooth was enabled, and how often I had set the updates to be recorded. After answering their questions, they stopped responding. Returned to Amazon for refund. I wish the battery life was as long as their other temperature monitors, because this device is accurate and easy to read. The magnetic back is also handy.

I bought this over 2 years ago after trying several other pool thermometers. I enclosed it in pvc to protect it, and I didn’t want it floating around. The probe is in the end of the tube and the control unit is in the adjoining junction box. It sits neatly on the spa deck with the probe in the water. I painted it brown to blend in.In the two-plus years it had worked flawlessly, providing great accuracy and reliability. I have to change the battery about every 6 months which is easy to do (app shows battery level). In order to extend coverage past Bluetooth range (about 40 feet) I recently purchased the Inkbird wifi gateway. Wow! Now I can see the spa temp on my iPhone from anywhere and it works perfectly. I highly recommend these products (both thermometer and wifi gateway).

I have four of the IBS-TH1 Plus+Aquarium Probe. I got the first one in February 2020. That one shows up in the app as version 1.7.0. The other three show up as version 2.1.0.- The version 1.7.0 goes through batteries pretty quick, but that was the only dis-like.- I got the second unit (the first on version 2.1.0) in July 2022. At first, I noticed that the batteries ran out much faster than the 1.7.0 unit; about half the time. After a month or so, I also realized that it's operation freezes after a week or two (and I was thinking the aquarium temperature was REALLY stable). The temperature reading didn't change and the batteries had to be removed and re-inserted to get it back to working. It still does this, but now I am just using it to measure pre-heated water for water changes. The good news is that I contacted Inkbird and they sent out a new unit. Great customer service.- The replacement unit from Inkbird is also on version 2.1.0. It has a different problem, and I haven't brought myself to contact Inkbird about it yet. Annoyingly, the display changes to the centigrade display every few days and I have to press the button on the unit's shell to get it back to Fahrenheit.- On a good sale in mid- October, I purchased the fourth unit - also a version 2.1.0 unit. It arrived with a cracked display and Amazon replaced it. The replacement has been working well so far without either the freeze or switching display issues.Overall, I love many of its features including (1) Bluetooth connection with the app, (2) highly readable display, and (3) aquarium-friendly probe with a better-than-most suction cup. In the dark, I have to shine a light on it to read it but I don't mind since it saves on the unit's battery. The magnet inside the unit allows me to mount the units on a metal bar attached to the wall which actually makes it easy to change battery and more (I originally had used velcro which had problems). I don't like how the display washes out when batteries get low (mainly the 1.7.0 unit as the 2.1.0 units get through the batteries really fast and there is no display at all). I really wish battery power conservation was better for an extended life between battery changes. The app does what I need although it could look nicer. I really wish the version could be upgraded/downgraded; if the issues I have seen are software-related.Bottom line is that I am happy enough with the version 1.7.0 and the last version 2.1.0 unit. But the grief I have from the other two units is so annoying. Do I recommend? Not really at the current 2.1.0 version. If we can get it past version 2.1.0 with better battery performance and reliability, then I would recommend it.COAUTH 120422IBTH

This product is really neat and has a lot of technology in a compact device! What I love:-WiFi capability - this is awesome to be able to view the temps of my snakes that are incubating eggs at the moment and knowing that their temps are alright event when I’m away.-External Probe - it’s nice to have an external probe because sometimes tech I’ve used in the past that you set in with the snakes enclosure gets to humid and won’t continue to work but with this I don’t need to set the whole device in with the snake, but I could if I wanted to.Needs work:-The battery compartment was really hard to get open-It would be nice to have button or some way in the app to change what temps the device is showing you. I’d like to know what the internal and external temps are, not just one or the other.Overall a great and useful device for any reptile lover who worries about temps when they’re away.

I bought this unit thinking it may be useful for keeping an eye on the temperature and humidity in my reptile enclosures. It seems to be quite accurate and keeps a historic log you can use to look for trends. It’s easy to read, the app (Engbird, not InkBird) is easy to read and to use, you can even setup alarms for minimum and maximum temperature and humidity values. The unit can be used with or without the included detachable probe, making it even more versatile. The caveats I’d have are; it is Bluetooth, not WiFi, meaning the “anywhere in the world” access you may enjoy on other smarthome devices isn’t present, there is no provision for mounting, meaning you’ll need to DIY something (many users may actually view this as a positive), the histogram isn’t scalable on any of the time divisions other than Day, the batteries seem to run down quickly and the cable for the probe is a bit thicker and stiffer than other temp or combo probe cables which may make placement a challenge for some users.I have expressed each of these concerns to the company who seemed very responsive and interested in the feedback, and said they are willing to make changes improving the product and the app.For the amount of information this provides, the ease of viewing and overall quality, I gave this 4 stars. For some this could be an easy 5-star unit.
