The first laser received was outputting probably less than 1mW, but was supposed to be 50mW. However, upon returning the product, the seller sent a replacement which works much better. This is a 780nm IR laser, but it is close enough to the visible spectrum to produce a dim red dot about 0.01% as bright as it truly is. (Use caution.) Through night vision googles that can see IR, it appears as a green 50mW would. I powered it with two AA batteries for 3V.
