The Humane Solution - Owltra is the humane solution for getting rid of large populations of rodents, as one set of 4AA batteries is enough to exterminate 60 rats. Featuring improved dual infrared sensors to protect kids and pets, Owltra ensures no false zaps. The no-escape design keeps the rodent in place while generating 6,000-9,000 of high-voltage shock for quick elimination. Pet-safe Dual Infrared Sensor - The chamber is designed with two infrared sensors, one at the entrance and one at the back. Owltra only activates when it detects a rodent inside the trap—preventing false zaps while protecting children and small pets.

It works as described. It is quiet and it is well made. During November 2024, 3 mice got into my house. I was able to capture and get rid of 2 of them with the classic spring loaded traps. The third mouse was a smart one (mice do learn). It seems that third mouse had jiggled a spring loaded trap, learning it was dangerous. He sprung the trap and got away. After that, I had no luck capturing the third mouse with spring loaded traps or glue traps or using Tom Cat Mouse Poison. I ordered this electronic mouse trap, and since November 2024, I have tried various bait: peanut butter, sliced deli ham, sliced deli roast beef, sliced deli pastrami, bits of apple, bits of a pear, and raisins. Finally I settled on using lightly salted Planters Peanuts, changing this bait with fresh bait once a week. Eureka! Today, January 31 2025, the green indicator light was flashing at 10 second intervals, indicating it did capture that third mouse. I emptied the trap, dumping the mouse at the far end of my back yard to feed any cats, skunks, or possums that came by it, so they could have a free meal. Here are some tips on using this electronic mouse trap: (1) Use disposable gloves when you handle it to avoid leaving any human scent on it which could scare off a mouse. (2) Change the bait at least once a week so that the mouse can smell 'fresh' bait. (3) Make sure the bait is placed in the 2 compartments furthest from the entrance to the trap to lure the mouse all the way inside the trap (4) Consider placing the trap on a kitchen counter on a paper towel that has absorbed some grease from frying up some bacon. That bacon smell will also attract a mouse, and as evidence you might see places where he nibbled the paper towel. If you see he nibbled the paper towel, then you can do away with that using the trap alone by itself. (5) Vacuum your kitchen floor, leaving no crumbs anywhere on the kitchen floor. Clean your kitchen table and kitchen counters. Leave no possible food sources that a mouse can get into anywhere in your house. You have to make sure that the mouse is so desperate for food that he does go inside your trap for the trap to work its magic. You might need some patience if you have yourself a smart mouse. This trap does work. It works as described: no muss, no fuss, no bother. I had reached a point where I did not think I was going catch and get rid of this mouse. Then the trap worked when I least expected it. In the end, this trap turned out to be an excellent purchase.

So at first when I bought this thing I was super excited and then very very let down.... After an entire week I hadn't caught a single rat and I couldn't figure out why!I live in a mobile home in a very large mobile park with a lot of elderly neighbors who do not spend their money on rodent prevention. Many of my neighbors are horders with shed's piled high to the ceiling full of junk and as you can imagine where I live is a rat paradise. I'm the good neighbor who spends 200 a year on rat bait but there's just so many of them.I can't keep up....So back to this trap at first i tried all different kinds of food from nutalla to peanut butter and even meat and cheese and not a single bite!!!Finally , discouraged and feeling like I was going to Return This thing because it was very expensive.I went back on line and read all the reviews on amazon.I have to say thank you to the lady who caught the hundreds of rats.Because it was her review that kept me motivated to keep trying!!!I decided to change things up A little after reading some of the comments about turning the unit off and leaving food in it To get the rats accustomed to it being a safe place to get a good snack.I have to say this totally did the trick.I went to the dollar store and bought a bag of cherry nibs. If you know what these are, they're just little pieces of twizzlers and apparently the rats seem to love them at least where I live! For a couple days I just left a few Nibs laying around the trap and then finally.I threw a few inside with the machine off.It only took a few days and I decided to fire it up. What I did was I put a handful of nibs At the back of the machine but I left one or two just at the doorway to Give the rats A tasty appetizer!!Rats are smart... Smarter than you think!!Once they have a taste of what's inside they won't stop. It's now only been one week and I have Caught three ginormous rats with this thing!!! The rats are so big here that half their body is sticking out the doorway haha.As much as I hate rats, they are still God's creatures and it hurts me to have to kill them. But honestly this device is very quick and humane. There is no blood or gore, and the rats actually do look peacefully, dead, I believe the kill is instant. It probably just stops their heart.Be patient, think like a rat and try cherry nibbs. I'd like to add that it's also a winter in Canada and at night it's hovering around negative temperatures and this thing is working great, plugged it to an extension cord. I decided to housewire it as opposed to using the batteries.Because I want humane kills.I don't want animals suffering because the jolt wasn't strong enough as its winter and batteries fade. Just personal preference.

After battling mice in our home for over three exhausting months, this electric shock mouse trap was an absolute lifesaver. We tried everything-snap traps, glue traps, countless baits, but nothing worked. These mice seemed too smart for traditional traps, and we were at our wits’ end. we came across this product on Amazon and decided to give it a shot. Within two days, it caught a particularly clever house mouse that had been avoiding every other trap we set.The trap is easy to set up and use. Just bait it (we used cheese), place it where the mice are active, and let it do the work. The design is efficient and humane—it delivers a quick, effective shock and solves the problem cleanly, with no mess or fuss. This is the only thing that worked for us, and we couldn’t be more relieved!
