The item that I received is translucent, and I would prefer a transparent cardholder which is more typical of acrylic products and in the description of the product. So I will have to give it one zonk for that because the translucent appearance gives it more of plastic look.Now the product is rather large, certainly not the size for a 3 x 5 note card, in fact it is 8.4 inches wide, so it can hold rather large index cards. There are pros and cons to the increased size. It has quite a bit of depth and would hold many cards.I think it would helpful to have this product rather than just stacking up cards on a shelf, etc., so overall it is a useful product.

This is just a holder. It does not come with the index cards. It has a film around it that you remove to have a clear hard plastic card holder. It will hold 5x8 index cards the best. You can also put smaller things in it like receipts, coupons and business cards. There is enough room to store a pen also. The edges are rounded and the base is stable. It will not tip over easily.
