  • High-Quality Coverage: Epoxy Primer is a two-part primer designed for fiberglass, rough plaster, concrete, new gunite, or sandblasted surfaces, providing a smooth, solid base coat.
  • Enhanced Smoothness: The heavy viscosity of Gunite Primer acts as a full coat, smoothing out rough spots for a more even surface.
  • Effective Surface Preparation: Requires proper cleaning with Tri-Sodium Phosphate (TSP) and acid etching on bare masonry to ensure optimal adhesion.
  • Optimal Coverage: Each gallon provides approximately 75 - 100 square feet of coverage, depending on surface porosity and primer thickness.
  • Crucial Application Tips: Ensure surfaces are completely dry before applying, as Gunite Primer cannot be used on wet surfaces

This superior high-build epoxy pool paint primer is formulated to provide the ideal substrate for In The Swim Epoxy Finish. Packaged in an easy to use 3:1 mix ratio, In The Swim Premium Build Epoxy Primer applies easily and builds up to 8 mils dry per coat, rendering "smoothing" qualities on rough surfaces. Topcoated with In The Swim Epoxy Finish provides up to 8 years' service life.

Buy atleast 2 gallons more than you measure. I have a pool with a deep end I bought 8 gallons and needed 2 more. No my pool was kind of rough, so it seemed to not go as far. The paint part was way easier. It took 6 and a half gallons and I was generous. It is work, priming it took about 4 hours that doesn't include the acid wash and tapeing

I highly recommend using the primer before painting. The pool I painted was in a property that was neglected and the walls were extremely stained by the algae and dirty water. You should plan for 4 halons if your pool is close to 100 halons, we had only 0.25 halon left after finishing. Our pool is set 100 halons and based on the company recommended calculations, we needed about 4.7 gallons. We hit 4 gallons of the pain and literally threw out a full gallon, so 3 gallons of the paint is all you need if you primed.

Excellent product. Easy to work with. Good coverage. A must have for success with the epoxy top coat.

The boxes didn’t appear damaged but the cans were dented. Fortunately the cans hadn’t broken open. The product seemed fine but it was a bit worrisome.

Can dried up over night. We put a coat on and needed another coat. Open the can the next morning it was hard

Epoxy primer used prior to epoxy pool paint for a slide. Follow the instructions and be prepared before mixing. Make sure you have all the accessories you need and have a plan. This project was a bit tricky but it turned out great.

This primer is great! Hardens quickly and super strong. Probably need twice as much primer as you do paint because it’s so thick compared to the paint. Coupled with Super Epoxy Sheild it’s like a brand new pool with a shiny, slick ceramic like surface like you see at water parks etc. who knew you could make your pool look new again with a few coats of this stuff! Plan on purchasing several roller covers because there’s no using any one of them twice with the way it hardens. Watch out for your glasses, phones and sidewalks! And shoe bottoms!

Not too difficult to mix/apply. Definitely take time to tape off tile well. I have 4" tile so I used 4" tape and used a razorblade to cut the length after I taped it on. I acid washed with a chemical sprayer and plastic brush with long handle and also did the primer coat, just to be safe. Primer and epoxy both painted on easy with a roller. It was hot out so after about 4 hours the epoxy wasn't completely cured so I pulled off the tape. It was hard in one day but I waited a few days per the instructions. I wish I would have sprinkled/mixed the sand it because it was very slippery when it cured. I just added non-slip clear tape on my step (spa) and that's been working good. When I do my pool next spring I will definitely do the sand on the steps. The paint is hard as a rock and looks likes like a brand new spa.
