If you have a Kohler toilet with the canister flush valve that randomly runs throughout the day, this does the trick. You might want to watch a youtube video to help you understand the whole process of removing the canister to replace the seal, but this is less than a 5 minute job to complete. The first time you do it, you think you're going to break the canister, but you really not need to apply a ton of force to make the 1/4 turn on the canister. The only problem I've had is remembering where I put the second one 9-12 months later when I need to replace the seal again.

I would say these are better than the original rubber seals that came on the Kohler toilet. These are more of a silicone that stays closed even with the hardest water. Installation is very easy, they fit absolutely perfectly (just make sure to get them in the little groove) and for the price they can’t be beat.

Initial quality looks good, 3 min install process. But fyi, instructions say leave hose connected and twist canister- you actually need to 1/ remove the hose and 2/ twist the value STEM in the middle. Twisting canister does nothing. Then just pull off old gasket and replace with new one.

This is an excellent product, and seeing as how I had two Kohler toilets with the same problem, this was 100's of dollars cheaper (and easier) than calling a plumber. They even came with instructions, a first rate product. A few clarifying tips:1) When you turn the valve stem inside the cylinder 1/4 turn counter-clockwise, the trick is to hold the canister up and do it from underneath the canister (but still inside the tank). If you feel with your hand you will get alot more leverage from the bottom than the top. If you try to turn from the top of the canister, you are likely to break the valve stem. This is critical information that the kit should make clear.2) After removing the valve stem and the old gasket, before putting on the new gasket, be sure to wipe the surface clean of any old rotten rubber from the old seal. You can use a tissue for this, you don't want any of this debris interfering with your new seal.3) When you at first put the new seal on, it will seem like it is too small. It's not, you just have to gently seat the inner ring of the seal around the lip of the canister. You should go around it a couple of times to ensure a good fit. If you don't do this, your toilet is likely to continue leaking (and to continue frustrating you).4) After doing this, just do the opposite of what you did to put it back together, remembering to turn the valve stem from under the canister, not the top. You should also give it a couple of test flushes to ensure it performs adequately and the seal is correct.5) Some people here say it is a 30 second repair. No, take your time and do it right. Even with the above precautions, and test flushes, it is less than 5 minutes per toilet.Voila! You now deserve an Adult Beverage for your hard work!

Works perfect on our Kohler one-piece Santa Rosa toilet flush canister. I found that the major plastic parts (base, canister, stem) are very simple and usually are not the problem with toilet leaks. Every problem so far has been with one of these canister gaskets. After about eight years they get worn, and floppy and fold under causing the canister to not seal. The stem inside the canister removes easily from the base with a quarter turn twist (counter-clockwise of course). Remove the canister (cylinder) and replace the gasket on the bottom and replace. For a temporary fix just straighten out the old gasket and make sure it is under the plastic tabs all around. But once it deteriorates to this point it is likely to turn under and leak in another few weeks. The base also has a foam gasket which will deteriorate over time, so if you are replacing this canister gasket you might as well get the "Kohler GP83996 Gasket" and replace it at the same time. And get a couple of extras since they will need to be replaced every 8-15 years and who knows if this part will be available decades in the future.Impresa gasket is a perfect fit, good price and worked as described.

My wife made the mistake of dropping in-tank (rather than in-bowl) chlorine tablets in our toilets. By the time I noticed, it was too late and the damage was done. One Kohler toilet developed the ubiquitous "ghost flush" issue, where water slowly leaks out of the tank into the bowl, causing the toilet to refill itself from time to time. Another toilet was difficult to flush - when you pushed down on the flush lever, there was a lot of resistance like something was stuck.Having never worked on a fancy Kohler mechanism, I was worried the repair would be difficult. A quick google search later, I determined the gasket/valve seal was the likely culprit so I ordered this 2-pack. It came with clear written directions that included how to remove the assembly (a simple quarter turn) to access the valve seal and replace it. Total repair time was about 2 minutes on the first toilet, and 1 minute on the second toilet once I knew what needed to be done. I leak-checked by putting a few drops of food coloring in the water storage tank and letting it sit for a few hours. When I returned later I found the water in the bowl remained clear, with no colored water having entered the bowl. No leaks confirmed!Because of the full and clear instructions, the value (this 2 pack costs as much as a 1-pack from Kohler), and the fact that the seals resolved my problem I feel a 5-star rating is warranted. I can't speak to the longevity, but since the thickness felt as good or better than the stock item I don't expect any long term issues. Should that change in the coming years, I will update this review.
