This gasket fit well over the hex retainer, but it is so thick, that I had to use a lot of push-down-force on each end of the tank to push the gasket down to the correct level. After installing it, Isaw a spot of spot of water on the floor at the rear of the toilet. There is a leak around this new gasket, so I turned off the water line to the toilet and I have ordered a softer gasket replacement. Hopefully that will be the answer to this delima.

The previous gasket was a Kohler item that had deteriorated over the last 10 years. This one appears much more durable. Be sure to force the gasket thightly on to the tank flush valve opening..

American Standard doesn't support these vintage tanks anymore, so I wanted to post the success I had with this Korky Universal gasket. I started the project using an American Standard branded gasket that pretty much looks like this one but uses black rubber. It seemed to fit but I just couldn't tighten down the tank enough to keep it from leaking. So I decided to try the Korky branded gasket next. It's a bit beefier and got the job done. Perhaps the black one would have fit better if I had a different flush valve and lock nut but for my setup, this was the one.

this is more sturdy that other gaskets that I have installed... I have used many different types of gaskets and have found this to be the most robust... Also it will not leave a black skid mark on your toilet

I bought this because the one in the set I had purchased from Home Depot Was too big to install. When I received this I followed the instructions and even tightened the screws connecting the tank to the bowl as much as I could, but you can see tiny droplets of water form and still create a small but significant leak. Had to get a whole new set at my local hardware shop.

This tank to bowl gasket fit our 2 inch Universal Rundle perfectly. We bought several versions at Home Depot that didn’t work before we found this one.
