After fishing for 50 years, I saw someone use one of these, so I had to order one! I finally got a chance to try mine out and was surprised at how easy it is. Whoever thought of putting a cork on it was a great idea. Not only can you not lose it by dropping it in the water, but the cork doubles as a keeper, to keep the wire rolled up nice and neat. I highly recommend this tool!

This wire is for larger fish but it works great. A good way to kill the fish you catch and keep the stress low for them. Comes with instructions and is easy to pack in your fishing kit.

I ordered this and the spike and was more excited about the spike but I think the wire is the more inserting product. Just a wire, cork bober and some rubber bits and crimp. I can do that!!! But is a high quality wire and has just the right properties to perform Sinkeijime. It's winter here is the NE and in the single digits so no saltwater fishing for my ass. No Tautog for me.So next best thing to do is buy some whole fish I can prepare for dinner and practice /test.See photos. Test subjects and dinner was Flounder to be pan fried whole. Two Boston mackerel and Spanish mackerel that will be Shime Saba. Note the Spanish mackerel is prepared much more delicately (less salting time and less time is rice vinegar)Anyhow on the surgery. The set up works great wire stay in a nice neat coil until you need it uncoil and get to work. You can go in from the head or the tail. The wire stiffness is just right. Was very easy to do in the Spanish mackerel and the flounder but the wire was too big for the Boston mackerel. I did not get good shots of the flounder as my spouse was done helping me play with diner and want chef to actually cook. It's easy to clean up and recoil the wire.Of course doing Sinkeijime on a fish that has been dead so long is pointless other than to test the product and practice. The flounder is tough to hit and normally I would go in through the tail and keep the head on but I want to QC my work. This a well put together system and using simple but quality components.I did have trouble getting the ebook and contacting the hotline but it's the holidays so I already dinged them on my review of the spike. Bottom line this things works and is easy to use and store. A++

I havent had a chance to try this size, guess I caught too big of fish. Cant wait for spring and some target species that are the right size. I got the t-handled spike as well and am learning the process to locate and go Cuisinart on the spinal cord to manahe the highest quality of the fish we catch. I can clean and pack tuna like theres no tomorrow but for all we have improved oir fish handling, leave it to asia to bring a better method. Humane and quick and also reduces lactic acids and other negative fish handling processes. Take the challenge and see for yourself what this one step does for the overall qualoty of the fish, be it sold or spread amongst family and friends.

We use these ikejime wires all the time for our tuna to "calm" them down once they have been boated and to preserve the meat to make it the best tasting as possible. I was a little apprehensive on getting the smaller version, and although the larger version works well for the tuna we catch this one is a bit more tricky with smaller fish... so yeah there is a smaller window to insert this wire to short circuit them but with a little practice you will get the hang of it. We used this on some blackfish recently and if you know blackfish, they are hard to kill and just generally put up a big fight, even when in the bleeding bucket. I cannot say that the fish tasted better because of the wire and the short circuit technique, but it did help calm them down a bunch as expected during the bleeding process....

Hookook Ike jime wire is made of good quality material. The wire even has a cork flotation type device on it to ensure you don't lose it in the water. This is best used on small to medium sized fish. This comes with places on the internet to get instruction on how to use the Ike jime. I personal did not use this, my husband is an avid fisherman and he took it out on a fishing trip with us and used it. From watching my husband use it, it looked pretty easy to use. The wire did not break off and when he was done with it, it looked easy to use. This sells for a good price.
