I was able to install with the included hardware and wished I'd done sooner. Adding the DRO to the planer was time and money weel spent. It's nice to be able to dial in the thickness setting or to be able to go back to a setting if you were short a board or two. The magnetic base on the readout for the iGaging DRO made mounting at a conveinient spot easy. The only negative for me is that the unit doesn't turn off automatically after a while so I turn it off when I shut down the machine.

It does the job but the usb connector loses connection a lot causing you to fiddle with it and require re zeroing of the device. Still the best there is at this price point

My Grizzly G0827 Mill has a three axis DRO but didn't have one for the quill. So I got this one and adapted it. I fixed it so the rail slid instead of the wired sensor. So it should last a long time. As far as accuracy it has been pretty spot on. Though I haven't had to do anything super accurate. It is nice to have the digital indication and the ability to zero at the desired depth etc. I spend more on the materials to mount this than I did the actual DRO. Love it so far.

I have yet to install the kit because the bolts for mounting the sending unit are too short to attach anything but a piece of paper. I will have to order some online because M3 bolts are not available at the hardware store. This is an annoying shortcoming for the mounting kit.

I am a machine builder. There are settings on the machines that move parts so my customers can make different parts. They need to come back to the same setting each time per the parts they are making. This gauge set-up allows them to change settings per part and come back to old settings making the machine set-up very easy.

Good: 110v power supply option. Easy mounting.Bad: no back light on guage. Very inaccurate. Moving the qui up and found the dro jumps measurements wildly. Can only be used to set the quill stop not for live milling.

This unit works great. I checked accuracy with certified inspection instruments and found linear accuracy to be within .003 over the entire 6” range and repeatability to be within .001. For the price of this unit, I’d say these are excellent results.I noticed that several folks are using these on a stationary planer, I have a couple suggestions for this.1) Shorten the cable and run it through the inside of the gearbox cover. The shorter the cable, the less change of getting emi issues. Cable management is pretty important as well.1) The reader mounting bracket doesn’t really work as is if mounting to the equipment. As such I heated and bent the arm at appointments 45 deg. Ant then turned the reader 90 deg from normal. Please take a look at the photo for clarification.

I was excited to try my new igaging scale and after unboxing and figuring out how to mount I finally got it on my lathe. Only to find that it does not work correctly. When I unboxed it I noticed a very small hole in the sensor part of the bar. About 1/16 inch hole. When I first saw it I just assumed it was normal. The hole doesn't go all the way through the aluminum bar. Just the sensor strip. And after mounting it I noticed that when the read head passes past the hole it freaks out. Jumps all over the place. If I park the read head on or near the hole the numbers will continue to climb even at a stand still. It is useless and unusable. Now I have to figure out how to try to get a replacement or refund.

Nice little unit for small equipment. I put it on a 9 x 20 mini lathe. It took a little work to get it to fit. It seems accurate, corresponds well with the dials. The instructions are useless. CAUTION you must put the scale and the sensor in exactly the same orientation it arrives in or it will not work. If you remove the sensor, mark it and the scale for up/down/left/right so it goes back together correctly. It can fool you, put it together wrong and it might work for a while then go stupid. Now you have to remove the whole thing and correct the orientation. Instructions should mention this.
