I havent purchased this but it looks sketchy all the way around. I build 3 racing kart engines a week for top methanal fuel, and I work as a mechanic for a tool rental company. We go through alot of engines due to wear and tear from our DIY customers that are not very knowledgeable about what they're doing so I'm always very busy. Beware of this product they are showcasing. Just from the look of it there are many red flags and I'm here to point them out to you. Number 1, there is only one picture. For a product just under 500 bucks i need more pictures. Number 2, the piston should always have either a stamped arrow pointing down towards the valves on the bottom or a stamped circle on the bottom indicating the piston is in the correct position. In this pic I cannot identify any marks at all. Number 3, now because I don't know if the piston is in the correct position, I have to open the case up now and pull the piston to verify it. Am I supposed to take a leap of faith and assume the engine is in the proper specs by one picture for just under 500 bucks? I think not... Ok now to number 4. They are saying it is compatible to Honda gx390 but then it says that it is keyed for Honda gx160. Well, what is it? Is it a Honda gx160 or a gx390? Number 5. By looking at the "1" picture, it shows that its ready for an electric starter but how do I know what engine I'm getting because we don't know if it's a gx160 or a gx390 again. Do I buy a gx160 starter or a gx390 starter? Do I buy a gx160 cylinder head or a gx390 head? Is the camshaft metal or plastic? The camshaft is truly the heart of your engine. Plastic is a big no no. It says it comes with a camshaft but how do we know if it's not plastic. Thats right, you don't because there is only one picture, and it does not include any pictures inside the crank case. Is there an oil sensor inside the crankcase? Alot of times these blow and go companies from China have dummy sensors inside but the actual sensor located in the crankcase is non existent. They usually have a dummy wire bolted inside the case with a yellow wire sticking out of the case making you think its legit when you hook it up. That sensor will shut your engine down automatically if there isn't proper oil levels. Am I supposed to trust that a real sensor is in the case by 1 picture? I'm not bashing this company in any way but for the price of their product they need to convince me to buy their product with more references and tell me what I'm buying especially for just under 500 bucks. Do your research. Just because it's a small engine they are not bolt and go. But some companies are blow and go. They get your money knowing they just sold x amount of product that wont last a week and then blame you for not finishing the build to proper specs. Hopefully I saved some people from future headaches but do some research when it comes to engines and their components. Have A great day. Todays date is 7/28/2023 is 10:06 AM in San Antonio Texas
