This sander works well attached to my shop vac. It eliminated the majority of the dust. The only issue that I've had, is that even 220 grit mesh screens leave visible scratches. It's a very good tool for the money, and does what it should.

The hose is more ridged than I had expected. I used for a while but then stopped because I found it wasn't worth the effort. In hind sight I would have spent the money and bought the pole mount round head unit.

Must have attachment during a cleanup renovation. Used this to remove a popcorn ceiling and there was virtually little to no mess as almost everything was sucked up into the vac.

I have been in the renovation business since 1983. I was sceptical after reading some reviews. However for the $ I decided to give it a try. We were living in the house & adding a 12’x24’room so dust was a concern as I always put plastic up to try & dust but it seems to find its way. I decide not to put up the plastic as an archway had to be incorporated. It took an awhile to get used to the vacuum hose attached. Once I got used to that it was amazing. I would say 98-99% dust free. Another step nobody mentioned is that prior to painting you do not need to dust the ceiling & walls down. As long as you use sanding screens & not sandpaper this should work great. Cheers

This product is beyond what i expected as far as it's ability to suck up dust. I can say it probably prevents about 99 percent of dust from getting away. I used it for sanding a ceiling. 2 down sides that are minor, using a rigid shop vac makes it difficult at first because it get stuck to the ceiling so you needto adjust the suction with a dial by the handle but may require a few strokes so paper gets a bit worn down. It is hard to sand side to side on the longer side of the sander. I haven't figured a way to overcome that, but it may be due to angle while sanding ceiling. Other than that, this works excellent. Skip buying the pole, im sure most of you looking probably have a good quality paint pole. I used minimal drop clothes and found zero dust on uncovered surfaces.

I've done sanding before - a few times. I hate it. I prefer to hand sand but it makes such a mess. This contraption works amazingly for catching the dust. It's not 100% but if you keep your vacuum cleaned and "tap" on the sanding head every so often to bounce the dust off the screen, I'd say it's at least at 98%.The problem with this product is the head itself when a pole is attached. It flops this way and that with a "thud" when you change directions. I lasted about 3 minutes using it with a pole as it ended up putting gauges in my dried joint compound. Ticked me off, to say the least! I did the rest of it by holding the head and guiding it with my hands. Up and down my little step ladder. It worked great. However, my arms AND legs are now killing me. I highly suggest, unless you are VERY WELL VERSED in sanding with a pole, buying the hand sander they have or, like me, prepare to use it by guiding it with your hands. Otherwise - great product and now I don't have to clean the entire room of dust.

I'm using this with a very strong shop vac, and it's absolutely amazing. Barely any dust, i don't need to wear my mask and have minimal clean up. A little more dust generated when sanding a ceiling, but really minimal. For the value, this product is awesome - highly recommend. I bought perforated sandpaper and it creates a super strong suction cup. I use it with a strong metal painter's pole to support the movement and it's been flawless. Couldn't be happier for the price. 5 stars

I'm sanding drywall with this product and it is perfect for the job. If you're sanding something harder or rougher, then at a minimum I'd get coarser sanding mesh than the included medium grit. It may be wiser to consider the higher grade professional option (09180).Complaints regarding the suction being too great to move the sanding unit against the wall is due to power of each person's vacuum. The unit does have adjustable rings meant to manipulate suction flow, but the differences are subtle.Complaints about the flexibility of the head making it flop over are due to improper leverage. When you stand at the right distance and are properly holding the pole, circular sanding is a breeze. Standing too close to the wall or ceiling makes the job significantly more difficult, so you may need a step ladder to find the right leverage.Unless you received a defective product, the force it would take to break the product as some reviews have described means the product was used at an improper distance/sanding grit. This product is mostly made of plastic and last I checked, plastic is not indestructible. The product does well to remove dust as you sand, but the mesh can get a bit congested which reduces its ability to suck up dust. This is especially true for the areas that are further from the point of suction. Be sure to check your screen for build-up if you notice dust falling or remaining on the wall.If you go into this with proper expectations, I think you'll be satisfied with the product. I am definitely happy with with this product and would buy it again, or get the professional grade.

Would be great, but as other's have pointed out, the flex point is way too loose and if you sand sideways to the long access the unit flops over and will likely damage the wall. I have not looked at mine but other's have reported that the flex head is held together with rivets - and thus no way to tighten it. Works great on a low wall where you can hold the head but sucks on a ceiling. The only way around it is to sand strictly the lengthwise along the short side. Which kind of defeats the purpose of feathering seams. The head seems a little larger that most pole sanders as well, so the standard grit screen barely fits. You have to barely insert the screen in one end then flip it over and barely catch the edge of the screen on the other end. Don't know if it's because of the greater thickness of the head with the vacuum pickup slots or not. It seems to hold alright, but I would like to have the screen fully seated like regular pole sanders. There is ZERO instructions on how to use the vacuum regulators on it. If it sucks too hard you need to rotate the little rings to expose the little slots in the vacuum tube and therefore lessen the amount of air being pulled through the head. Not hard to figure out, but not too obvious either. You also must have a handle to use this, even if you're sanding at a comfortable level on a wall in close quarters. A regular 14" paint roller extension works well in this situation. As far as usefulness, it works well. Before when I used a manual pole sander it of course left dust all over the place. This picked up close to ALL the dust.If they fix the sloppy flex joint, make the head so that a standard screen fits better and rewrite the instructions this would be a winner. Until then either spring for a much more expensive pro tool or put up with it's foibles.

GREAT tool. I've been wanting to get rid of my popcorn ceilings for years but didn't want to deal with the mess. I "invented" something like this in my mind - something to take off the popcorn & suck up the dust - but looks like someone beat me to actually creating it. For walls it is very easy. It's a little tougher for ceilings because the head wants to twist away from the surface. You need to stand on a ladder & hold the head to the ceiling & depending on your arm length can do 4-5 square feet before moving the ladder. Be sure and adjust the air valve to let some air in or it's much harder to maneuver. There will still be some large pieces of popcorn that make it to the floor so you still need to cover things that you can't move out of the room but the dust is very minimal. I left just enough of the texture to make it match the orange peel walls. I've only done one room so far but intend to do my entire house. An awesome tool for a great cost. I previously paid someone $125 to remove popcorn from my kitchen and though they put plastic over the doorways, dust still made it's way to the adjoining rooms. I highly recommend. (By the way, I'm a 57 year old grandma so if I can use this, most anyone can.)
