Works great and quick , the only downside is you have to flip the 2 files in the jig to do both sides of the chain.

I have been sharpening chainsaws for 40 years and this makes it much easier. Its a little awkward at first but after a bit of practice it feels better. it does require both hands so putting saw in some type of holder makes it super easy to use. I would definitely buy again and recommend.

I bought this sharpener to go with my new Husqvarna 455 Rancher. I used it today for the first time. I had to sharpen the blade three times while cutting up a 7 feet long section of 30” diameter tree trunk that was full of nails. There were no instructions, so I found a Youtube video that explained it’s operation. The frame is marked Left and Right, since you have to remove the files and reverse them, according to which set of teeth you’re working on. It was a little awkward for me to open and close it, but that’s because of some arthritis and a thumb that’s only semi functioning due to tendon damage. Normally functioning fingers should have no problems.Once the files were locked into place, sharpening the chain was easy. The round file sharpens the cutting edge and the flat file reduces the depth gauge, or raker to maintain the correct height. A flat bar rests on the top of the next raker and keeps the correct angle of the flat file.It took from 10 to 20 passes to resharpen a tooth, but that was also after cutting through at least three nails, so the chain was pretty chewed up.I’m pleased with this sharpener and I think it’s worth the money I paid.

Very flimsy handle. Not a long lasting tool. Not worth the money.

PERFECT, EXCEPT NO ANGLE LINES FOR VARIOUS TEETH CUTTER ANGLES.I FILED THESE -THE TWO I USE -- 25 DEG FOR HUSQVARNA AND 30 DEG FOR STIHL SAW CHAINS; ON THE TWO OUTSIDE BARS OF THE TOOL!ONLY WAY TO MAKE CONSISTANT, ACURATE FILING POSSIBLE.TRY IT. CLAMP A GUIDE STEEL PIECE, AT THE CORRECT ANGLE, TO IT (AFTER REMOVING THE FILES OF COURSE).DO THAT AT BOTH ENDS, FOR THE LEFT AND RIGHT CUTTERS; THEN FILING WILL BE ACURATE AND MUCH QUICKER !OBVIOUSLY, USE CORRECT DIAMETER (AND LENGTH) ROUND FILE FOR EACH CHAIN.

This is one tool I wish I bought years ago. Quickly sharpens the teeth and depth gauges in one pass. It restores the chain to new in minutes. Buy it!

Just got this in the mail yesterday and went right out to try it on my Husqvarna 455 Rancher. I had not touched up my chain from the last use, so it was in need of a good sharpening. It took me a few minutes to get in to the proper rhythm, but after a few minutes I had it working smoothly and with few hiccups. The only problem I encountered with it is if you run the file clear to the end, when the guard bumps the chain it kept unlocking the round file and it would drop out of the holder and I'd have to realign and reinstall it before continuing. As part of the rhythm of sharpening I had to train myself to stop just short of the end of the file each time. With a little practice I had my chain sharper than I have ever managed free hand before. Add to that, my depth gauges get a precise height adjustment simultaneously. This unit is a little more inconvenient to switch from right to left, than the Pferd CS-X Chain Sharp Filing Guide. You have to unlock both the top and bottom of the handles and move the round and flat file to the opposite side before switching. With the Pferd CS-X you just turn the whole file over and keep going. You also pay twice as much for the Pferd too. For the small inconvenience of moving the files, I'll happily save the money. I plan on ordering another one of these in the smaller size to use on my smaller chain saws as well.
