The Hurtta story began with our personal need and desire to protect our dogs from the cold and ever-changing, extreme conditions of the North.
We are from Finland, ”The wild North,” a place known for its pure and exotic nature and unrelenting winters. Originally, we were clothing industry professionals, and we were determined to make functional products for our own dogs while also developing a range of functional dog gear globally.
We're no strangers to the parks, trails, and training fields that dogs and their owners frequent every day. Our expertise stems from our extensive apparel industry and design experience and the bonds we have forged with other caring dog owners, dog trainers, and dog sport professionals worldwide.
Our love for dogs and our 20-year history are evident in everything we do. We’re always exploring and experimenting, working and reworking, testing and retesting – until our dogs let us know that we got it right.

This is a great cold-weather coat! The bright color offers good visibility and the reflective strip allows for light reflection after dark. The coat has multiple points of adjustability, including "secret" adjustments at the neck and under the back that allow it to be customized to fit a specific dog. It also has a tag compartment and a feature that allows the inner neck barrier to be snugged up against the neck to keep wind out. There is a central portion that fits between the dog's front legs and wraps over the back, securing the coat in place and keeping the belly area dry (even in the post-snow slush and mud). It also has better leg coverage than previous coats I have purchased. The only feature I didn't care for is the loops to hold the rear leg flaps in place, as they are too long for my dog. Nevertheless, I ordered three of these--one for each of my girls. Highly recommend!

Wir haben schon mehrere von diesen Hurtta Hundemäntelchen (in verschiedenen Farben). Unsere Podencos sind sehr schlank, deshalb kaufen wir die Mäntel eine Nummer kleiner als laut Größentabelle angegeben. Da sie reichlich geschnitten sind in der Weite, kann man bei kälteren Temperaturen noch einen Pulli/Jumper drunter ziehen - das finde ich sehr praktisch. Ohne Pulli darunter sind die Mäntel perfekt für kalte Frühjahrs- und Herbsttage. Dass sie gut vor Nässe schützen, ist ein zusätzliches Plus. Außerdem sind sie ruckzuck angezogen - und alles sitzt perfekt. Volle Kaufempfehlung!

Spent a cold Feb weekend in NYC and this Parka was essential! So easy to put on and take off, and super warm for my FL dog in all conditions: snow, wind, sleet. It’s high quality and fits perfectly after taking measurements as directed. Highly highly recommend. The best “dog sweater” I have ever gotten!

I very rarely give 5 stars. The reviews were enough for me to give it a try and purchase but I didn't have too much faith in it due to the validity of Amazon reviews. However, this is an excellent coat. It's thicker than the average fleece dog coats. My dog is 80lbs and you are not pulling anything over her head so I was surprised when she let me put this coat on with minimal resistance. The coat is thick, warm and provides full coverage. Pulls off very easy. I have not washed it yet so I can't speak to that. I ordered the 28inch. My measuring is terrible. The coat is a little too big but I kept it anyway. I am hoping this coat will last. It is worth the money. Will be ordering another color

This coat is awesome! It’s so easy to put on and take off. It goes over the head, and buckles at the waist. It has leg straps, and adjustable straps for a perfect fit.The price is pretty good, considering it is lined, and keeps our pup nice and warm. We haven’t had it long enough to really say how durable it is, but it definitely looks well made. The coat is so soft and just thick enough to keep our girl nice and warm. It also comes in a few colors. Our Sienna is a girl, so we went with the beet color, and it is prettier in person.We have told friends about this coat because we really love it.You won’t be disappointed in this jacket, give it a try. You and your pup will be happy you did!

Rather than point out the utterly obvious (ok but really, look how CUTE he is!!), here’s what you came here for:* EXCELLENT QUALITY as always with Hurtta. (Our two Hurtta harnesses and a Hurtta Monsoon Raincoat have stood up to 2-5 years of hard use now,l, and are still going strong.)* SIZE 22” fits my Welsh Springer Spaniel perfectly. This is exactly what the size charts said to buy. It is also the same size in this coat as he wears in his Monsoon Raincoat. (Welsh Springers are more or less built like English Springers but with shorter legs.) His measurements: 28” around, ~21” length, 56 lbs/25.6 kg. Pics were taken before I cinched up the back length an inch or so. I ordered the 20” and the 22” and kept the 22” because the extra length on the back leg panels made the leg loops fall at a lower and more comfortable position. In S-M-L sizes of quality brands, he is always a medium, though they are usually 3-4” too short lengthwise. Thanks, Hurtta, for all the different lengths!!!* BOY BITS: I’ve included a picture of his undercarriage. I love that even the 22” coat (on a 21” dog) leaves PLENTY of room for peeing without hitting the fabric. Also note that the leg loops are not too high or tight.* COLOR: “Bilberry” is a clear, heathered, medium blue. Not loud but not grey or drab. It’s a beautiful and sophisticated-looking color. Like some handsome movie star’s eyes, lol. The closest I can say is it’s kind of like a slightly brighter washed denim blue. It is NOT teal or royal blue! :-)* WARMTH: The insulation is good for a dog coat. I worry more about them overheating than getting hypothermic. It’s definitely warmer than the (uninsulated) Monsoon Raincoat, but not ridiculously so; this is exactly what I hoped for for our wet winter walks where we are being active in temperatures slightly above freezing.* EASY ON/OFF: Just pop it over the head, clip the belt strap, pick up each hind paw to use the leg loops (optional), clip the leash to the collar or harness (there’s a hole for that on the back), and out you go! (If your dog’s unsure about sticking their head into the neck hole, hold a treat in one hand and pop the coat over the head with the other as you deliver the treat. After a few times, the dog will learn it’s not a scary weird trap.)* CINCH CORDS: These pics were all taken without any of the three cinch cords adjusted—straight out of the bag. There is a stretchy adjustable cinch cord for the length, one at the base of the neck “funnel,” and one at the neck opening. This adds great, logical functionality, and is basically the same system as on the Monsoon Raincoat.*HIGHLY RECOMMEND! It was love at first sight for us. I hope this review helps!

Size guide is a load of rubbish! I measured my dog correctly (works for all other brands), and ordered the right size. It is ridiculously oversized for my dog. Now I have to pay postage to return it. I am angry to be out of pocket for postage when the size guide is clearly inaccurate.

Der Hundemantel ist einfach Klasse. Mein Brocken von 40 kg trägt den Mantel sehr gern. Er ist leicht, warm und atmungsaktiv. Der Hund macht nicht den Anschein, dass er sich eingeschränkt fühlt. Klare Empfehlung
