I have called many times with this call it has made does curious to check out the scene the problem is in the field is difficult to change the tone from deer bleat to Buck immature book as you take it apart and it's difficult to reattach maybe a some adjuster would be perfect

Don’t let people tell you grunt calls don’t work on blacktails - they do. Nuff said.

It's fairly bulky, however needed for the sound it produces.

I wish I could find the original Wayne Carlton deer call/grunt tube. It was absolutely the best of the best. Made for western deer hunting like the new call, but I’ve called tons of whitetails with it here in Arkansas. Going to give this one a try. I’m rating the “Original” call a 5 + Stars and wish I could rate it a 10!!!!! My daughter, son in law, and myself have had the three originals we have for 15-20 years. My first one had a black plastic mouth piece and the last two for the kids had a green plastic mouth piece. Two of them still work like they were new, but had a grandchild ruin the reed in the third while I had them apart. I’m going to get some reed material and copy the reed from one of the good ones. These calls are Accurate sounding, loud if you need them to be, and easy to blow. They cover the full spectrum of Buck grunts both young buck grunts and older buck deep grunts depending on how you cup the end of the tube. I also start out with the tube pressed short and let it out as I call to change the tonal sounds from young buck to old, and for the extended breeding grunts.I’ll update this review when I receive the new call. I suspect these are about the same call but with a new wooden mouth piece. The tube is also flaired on the new call at the business end.Update:Don’t waste your money on this call. Much better stuff available out there. It’s a shame. The Original call is as good as this one is bad. Hunters Specialties should consider looking back at that model. It was relatively inexpensive and extremely effective and versatile. I guess every manufacturer wants to sell these 20-25 dollar mega (sales pitch) calls nowadays.

I hunt whitetails on the east coast but I took a chance on this. I suspect this will get their attention. Sounds better & more realistic than any of the plastic ones I've had.
