I am building a small shed and getting the grade and foundation leveled out would have benefitted by a proper laser leveling system. This cost less than what it costs to rent one and worked perfectly for my needs. The pendulum auto level system was spot on and made this a super easy job. I have a feeling this is going to come in handy many times for me.

My attitude when awarding stars for a product is that you balance what you received against what you paid for it. This laser was inexpensive and that’s what I was looking for. I needed to hang many tapestries and textile wall hangings, by myself, which would have been difficult to level and support without a clear level line established in advance. The hangings were all wider than my 4-foot bubble level. The laser helped me judge from a distance the height and level of each, which would have been difficult by myself, standing with a tape measure and level a foot from the walls. The laser was easily worth the price I paid, and it did the job I asked it to do.The laser can only be aimed upwards/downwards by four degrees. (4°) from level, so it must be elevated by a tripod, or a camera tripod standing on top of something, to achieve heights high above the floor. For the wall hangings, I had to use my camera tripod extended to maximum height, supported by a table underneath to get the laser line near the ceiling. The laser has a magnet that could be hung by the metal corner bead of a drywall corner, if the corner has metal, not plastic corner beads. Mine didn’t, so I used the tripod to mount it.The laser accuracy at 30-feet from the wall is about 5/8”, which is measurable but unnoticeable for most purposes. I later used the laser at dusk to level a line of fence posts outside, and it worked well for that, the laser line being bright enough in low light to mark the line of posts. My point is that the accuracy and brightness were sufficient for my purposes, the tool was cheap enough, and I guess it gets five stars on that account.

Bought this as I was about to repaint the downstairs floor of a 3200 square ft home. The beam is quite strong and bright. I used it during daylight in well lit rooms without issue. Self leveling was spot on totally accurate. Another great feature is it's simplicity. One button ....each time u depress u get vertical... horizontal...or both. Anyway great product... excellent value for the money. Could probably use it out side in daylight for setting height of patio stones ECT.

The Huepar laser level is a simple device to use; there aren't many gimmicks to it other than the self-leveling mode. It was immediately useful to me in my home projects though: installing a towel ring in the bathroom and installing a new receptacle in the wall. I used the laser level with a tripod I had on hand, and it worked really well; it provided level lines that exceeded the bubble levels I have. One of the issues I have with the Huepar is that the self-leveling function can be finicky. It sometimes blinks and doesn't want to settle if the platform/tripod you are using it on isn't close to level, so there is very little wiggle room, when you are in a tight space, like a small bathroom, and don't have a tripod or platform that has an adjustable range of 2 feet to 6 feet.Another issue is that the self-leveling mode doesn't power off with the power button. You have to lock it back into the standard mode, with a physical switch, before you can switch it off. There's a lot of touching the level to do this process; it is a hassle if you need to walk away from your work site for an extended period of time and don't want to waste the batteries but want your guides to stay the same.Lastly, the provided magnetic platform is almost useless. The magnets are weak and only sticks to the nearest to surface metal. It is nowhere near the as strong as my magnetic stud finder, therefore unable to provide a strong platform for mounting. Also, the mounting screw and mounting platform is pointless; it's unstable and not firm holding, allowing the laser level to be knocked on a swivel with the slightest touch.I like having the laser level and the green laser is bright and sharp for a home DIYer. I'd recommend something better for professional uses, but I don't mind recommending it for someone needing to install things level from time to time at home.

The pictures show this is a red line the description says it’s green I should have picked this as it’s clearly a red line. The description says it’s for out door use, this is rubbish. If you want a cheap indoor leveller it’s not to bad but you will get better at a cheaper price.Ripped off again.

I used the horizontal plane of this laser level to determine where to add soil to adjust a yard area to a uniform very slight slope. I used a makeshift stadia rod made from a tape measure clipped to a scrap aluminum extrusion. Even in bright sun, I could see the green line on the stadia rod up to 25 feet from the laser by casting a shadow on the rod with my hand or the clipboard I was plotting elevations on. As another reviewer said, it helped to know roughly where the line would be, and by 25 feet from the laser it was very faint, but still just visible enough to read once I found it. Later in the day, as the sunlight faded, the laser was bright enough to see easily over much longer distances. Unlike another reviewer, I received my level in the "locked" position, as it should be, so I was not too worried about its calibration. Just to be sure, I tested its calibration immediately indoors and found its error too small to detect at all (that is, within the 2-3 mm width of the laser line) at 40 feet, which I figured was plenty good enough for leveling dirt... so good that I probably got lucky with this particular unit. Here is how I tested: Set the level up on a tripod next to one indoor wall. Mark the horizontal line on the near wall; turn the level and mark the opposite wall. Move the tripod to next to the opposite wall and adjust the height until the line matches the level marked there. Then rotate the level and compare the laser line on the first wall to the original mark on it. The difference is the total error over the round-trip distance from the first setup point, to the second, and back. So if you see a 1/8" difference with the two tripod setups 20 feet apart, the error is actually about 1/8" in 40 feet. I could not detect enough error to measure it.) I used four old 1900 mAh rechargeable AA batteries, turning the laser on only periodically when needed for measuring or for short periods of work with frequent checking. After two days of work and two nights of leaving the batteries in the unit overnight (turned off, of course), the batteries are roughly half discharged. If I had to leave the laser on continuously for a job, I would bring a second set of batteries and charge them while I used the first, just to be sure. But if you use the laser to lay out pencil marks or take elevations periodically, turning it off at other times, then battery use does not seem to be a problem. This level comes with a small stand-up scale for leveling floors or other surfaces that you set the level on directly. This is a essentially a very short, self-supported stadia rod with a zero mark at the height of the horizontal laser above the unit's feet. The level also comes with a magnetic bracket so you can easily mount the laser to ferrous surfaces. I found the magnets more than sufficient to securely support the laser on the door or sides of my refrigerator. The included soft, slightly padded case holds the laser and both accessories with moderate protection. You could even jam in an extra set of batteries. As some other reviewers note, the manual is very brief, but this tool is pretty simple and does not require anything more. The manual does not explain the floor-leveling scale or the magnetic bracket, but if you can't figure them out, you probably don't need them. One can pay a lot more for this kind of tool, but unless you really need longer range in bright sunlight or want to be able to calibrate it yourself, this one will do the same job.
