I bought this to run a 3 phase motor on a mill, you cannot use this to run any old 3 phase device, or maybe you can but I don't think so. I made up a control box like the photo and set into programming it. Programming took under 1/2 hour, I just went through the manual once I figured out how to navigate the menus. The important information you will need is on the nameplate of the motor. If you search for "HUANYANG" on YT you will find videos helping you setup the VFD.Overall, it's a decent VFD for the price. Difficulty level is hard to judge, this is my wheel house, being a controls engineer in a past life. How the average Joe will be able to program? I think they can manage with the videos and a little patience.

We use a lot of VFD's they are very handy just make sure you motor is suitable for this type of application. They have many features that can help protect your motors as well. Just wish the manuals were printed a little bigger for old eyes. As well make sure you are getting the correct type VFD for your purpose. There are many videos on YouTube for this brand to help determine and set it up as well as instructions and the MFG website. ***IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE OR CAPABLE, PLEASE HIRE AN ELECTRICIAN EXPERIENCED IN MOTOR CONTROLS. *

I recently upgraded my controller to a Masso g3 and now have the ability to control the rpm from the controller.Forward and reverse work but it's not accepting control from MASSO for speed. The parameter settings I believe are right. The chinglish manual is pretty good, but the terminals are oddly labeled so there is no VI, DCM or ACM terminals. I emailed but no response.

First what’s good; there’s a TON of programmable features, it drives my 5KW motor well, and most of all, works. I find it to be a good value for the price. I had some set up issues, and the manufacturer, subject to a 24 hour delay, answered ask of my questions. Maybe a. Little language gap, but the email support is otherwise superb. The problems are two fold; the manual is nearly impossible to understand, and unlike other competitive models must be programmed because it doesn’t have an auto detect feature. It’s hard to get set up without some studying of the manual (using a magnifying glass because the print is infinitesimally small) and watching a few YouTube videos. Secondly, this VFD causes my motors to emit a high pitched whine that other VFDs have not. It’s unsettling, as I’m concerned that the whine indicates Eddy current in the motor that could be damaging. The seller states that it should not; and while I’m inclined to believe them, so the noise is just an annoyance. Despite the complexity in setting it up, and the noise, it’s a good value. I have other VFDs that perform better at 5 times the cost, but I’ll keep this one. I’ve had others with auto config that didn’t make the noise, but they failed. If I was in a production setting where down time was costly, or noise was an issue, I’d go with the expensive domestic brand. For a hobbyist, this fits the bill fine.
