This was a perfect fit for my laptop. The original battery quit holding a charge but the computer itself was fine, this is a great way to extend the life of the laptop. It came with everything needed to install including the screwdriver which was awesome!

My hp 17-by4xxx laptop was needing charged frequently so I ordered this replacement battery. Installation was pretty easy using supplied screwdriver and "guitar pick shaped" piece of plastic. Did the discharge/charge cycles as suggested. Charge lasts a lot longer than the old battery. There is a problem though. The laptop will not start up from the power switch. I have to plug in the charger for it to start up. During start up it displays an error message of checksum error. Once booted up the charger can be unplugged and it functions normally. Other people have posted this problem on HP website with no real solution offered. I will keep booting this way for now. The battery is supposed to maintain the time and date when off but that doesn't work.

I had purchased this battery for my HP laptop and found that the laptop could not be powered on with just the battery alone. I had to connect the power adapter to the laptop in order to get it to start up. Afterward, the power supply could be disconnected and the laptop could run on the battery by itself. But, when you shut the laptop down, after a few minutes you can't power the laptop back up on the battery alone. You need the power adapter to start it back up. On top of that, the computer loses its BIOS settings as well as loses the time and date.And it didn't matter that the battery is calibrated and fully charged. Even after calibration in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and a full charge, the problems persisted consistently.Needless to say, the laptop being unable to power up on the battery alone, thus requiring the power adapter to help get the laptop started, seriously negates its portability. And the inability of the battery to sustain the BIOS and internal clock despite being fully charged just adds to the annoyance.I requested a return and exchange of the battery and got a replacement battery. Unfortunately, the replacement battery has the same exact problems.Obviously at this point, it could only be concluded that the battery has a design flaw that prevents it from being an exact replacement to the original HP battery.I put in the original HP battery (which couldn't be used beyond testing because the original battery was physically bulged and would no longer fit in the laptop when fully assembled) and the laptop powers up on the battery alone like it's supposed to.I wound up ordering a battery from a different manufacturer (Ninjabatt) and that battery works exactly like it's supposed to. My HP laptop now can be powered up on the battery alone and the CMOS and clock are sustained.I'm sorry to say that I cannot recommend this battery from this particular supplier, not until its design defect is addressed.

Overall a great product for our computer. Does not last as long as the original battery, but honestly at less than half the price it is a steal. Great to give life to a computer that doesn't work anymore.

Capacity of the battery is very low. Doesn't hold charge for very long. Voltage drop is very high if not plugged in. Died in 5 months, installed in May and died in October. It shows its fully charged and as soon as you unplug it from power computer shutsdown. It doesn't even hold the charge. Thank God Amazon removed it from site.

My HP laptop is almost 8 years old. That's when the chances are it's time to replace the large battery inside. Of course I was having multiple problems with my computer and the main problem was the battery and I replaced it myself. I ordered the charger as well because that part may also get hot and burn up. So everything is working great. I don't recommend you taking your laptop apart yourself and I'm not going to tell you how I did it. I broke two screw holes because its plastic it is easy to break. Also two screws are missing I couldn't screw them back in and the CD player will not open by its self or play a CD. I don't know why and I am not going to take it apart again. I recommend the products I bought.

Easy to install So far the battery is good when its connected to the charger. I give a 4 star because I tried to see how long the battery will last, less than 90 minutes (just surfing on the web), and it drop from 40% to 7% (the laptop closed). I guess, it's not a long term purchase.
