I keep trying, but these round dowels won't fit in the square holes....This is my first mortiser experience. I have been doing it all wrong... with a round drill bit and a chisel.Seriously though, this guy makes great square holes in wood. Super easy to set up and get going. Yes, there is a little assembly needed, but even I could do it with only barely looking at the instructions.The machine runs smoothly and worked well on softer pine, and some harder stuff, like maple and walnut.I punched some holes in a scrap piece of mahogany as well. The machine worked great.I did get a few more sizes, but haven't tried them yet. I'll update it things get wonky. No updates = it works great with the other sizes.It doesn't take up much space on the bench and seems to be of decent quality. -I've had my fair share of "tools that are freighted through the harbor", and this seems to be a step above those.Easy to assemble, easier to use, and works great on soft to hard woods.

This is my first mortiser and for me it was easy to setup and easy to use. The maximum depth of the wood that can be used is 3 inches. The fencing and the holder are easy to adjust to get the wood lined up to make an accurate hole or milling slot. I have only used this on pine so far and it works as I would expect it to work. The hole was good and accurate. I will be using this on harder wood and I just need to remember that the harder the wood, the process is a little slower. Patience is the key to doing this right.I have never purchased a HOTECHE brand tool before but the quality of the tool seems to be very good and well made. I could not find any manufacture defects and it works right out of the box after some easy assembly steps. I expect to be using this tool very often as both a mortiser and a drill press.I like the product and I think it is a good price point for a quality equipment.
