This is a solid, well made unit. I like the auto charging feature and the led lights that show the battery status. This was easy to install and includes everything you need to insure your electric trailer brakes will activate in case of a breakaway.

Very easy to install with wiring diagram on box and on instructions. I put this on my brand new cargo king trailer along with, brake kit and 7way plug with junction box. I think anyone can tackle this project.

Very easy to install and directions were perfectly written. the breakaway cable and holder/switch is not very stout and the cable is longer than needed for my application. The wires could have come with extra insulation considering the install is outdoors.. but I fixed everything and used a soldering iron and heat shrink to get everything more secured.

I purchased this for our sailboat trailer which uses 4-wheel electric brakes. With an 8,600 pound gross load, having a good, dependable breakaway emergency braking system is vital. This was relatively easy to install, is compact, and performs as advertised. While I have not tested the system under load (that would be crazy, would it not?), I have tested it with each wheel jacked up, spun by hand and then the breakaway pin pulled by an assistant. The battery is sufficient to lock them up immediately so my guess is that with the trailer loaded, should it break loose from the vehicle, this system is going to apply a strong incentive for the trailer to stop. I hope I never have to find out.

This is an awesome product that works as advertised. Well worth a 5 star rating. However, as a 30+ year senior electronics technician on test and evaluation of the newest military fixed wing fighter/attack aircraft, I replaced their inferior nickel plated mounting hardware with about $20.00 worth of grade 8 bolts, washers, and self locking nuts; stainless steel machine screws, washers, and self locking nuts; and a couple of tubes of non-corrosive gasket maker to seal everything before mounting to prevent moisture from getting trapped between plastic and metal (which could cause rusting). NON-CORROSIVE SEALERS will not have that vinegary smell. Have a pail of soapy water (like you would mix for washing dishes) ready with a rag to wipe off any excess sealer after mounting. This same soapy water can also be used to smooth out the edge with your finger, to a professional look; just keep your fingers wet with the soapy water. If you immediately wipe off your hands with a clean dry rag, and sealer should easily come off. Then finish up by just washing your hands.It would have been nicer had this been designed with a door to cover the control panel; which is made of some type of vinyl and will most certainly deteriorate over time, in the sun, to the point it will become densely clouded and non-transparent.

I have two horse trailers that have breakaway systems. I was very careful to hook up the break away cables every time I moved the trailer only to find out that both batteries were dead and would not have worked in spite of my careful hook-ups. I wanted a battery that incorporated a battery charger so the battery would not be too discharged to work. This battery includes a battery charge indicator and will charge if attached to a 12V source (such as during transport for example). I would buy this again and I did purchase two of them, one for each trailer. Also, they are similar in size to the only ones and the installation was straight forward. My old set-up used a non-charging battery in a battery box so the bolt holes were not exactly in the same place. If you are replacing an existing battery you might have to re-drill the holes but otherwise, installation was easy and quick.
