I mainly use this for my starting hops, it remains stable through the boil due to the double suspension. My old one can tend to tip over sometimes. I do wish I would have ordered a larger one though, my brew kettle is 8 gallons, so I have to add additional hoppers for my finishing hops.

Hopstands are a bit of a controversial topic in the homebrew world. Using one decreases hop utilization...not using one is a mess of a clean up... As someone who works in a microbrewery, I personally use one for homebrewing because it makes clean up easier and I've never noticed a difference in using one versus not using one, at least not a big enough difference to justify not using one.With that said, this particular hopstand is fairly sturdy. Some of the stands you get with brewing kits are flimsy and thin stainless steel, resulting in bending at places. This stand is not that. The stainless steel has held up well after three years of use (and 150+ batches) and is still without pits. I do take care of my stuff, but I honestly do not do anything too crazy with this hopstand. I dump the used hops into my compost after boil, rinse the stand with the garden hose, dunk in sanitizer, and leave to air-dry. It has made my homebrew life easier and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a decent hopstand.It is important to note that hopstands don't last forever, but I have been pleasantly surprised at the longevity of this one, especially with how many brews I've put it through. The mesh wire is usually what goes on these things and mine is still holding up remarkably well. If I ever need another one, I'll just buy this one again. They also have some good sizing options available.In short, if you want a hopstand, I would recommend this one because of its build quality. It isn't flimsy and it also isn't too expensive.

Works great. Relatively easy to clean. Only wish it had adjustable arms so that you could center it in your brew pot and not have it on one side or another.

I used this strainer today and went to the walk in clinic for 4 stitches. The hop legs are very sharp around the edges so be very careful.I was dumping the grain bag and the strainer slipped out of my hand. The weight of the grain dropped the strainer on my hand slicing the back of my hand open.Just reviewing again as a PBS announcement.Great product but edges should be filed round on the legs.

Works well, 300 micron mesh does still allow a noticeable amount of very fine hop particulate through(dry hop pellets), but would still recommend 👌

Great basket strainer. I have not used it yet for a brew day, but I can tell this will be a great item for straining my hops and helping clarify my wort by whirlpooling in conjunction with my pump. I have cleaned it with bar keeper friend to passivate it, rinsed with water to remove BKF, and then used a mild soap to give it a final cleaning to ensure all BKF was removed. The strainer is attached by small tack welds to the steel band, so that small area can be tough to clean. Passivated in a 4X strength solution of Star San and water. I will update this review when I brew with it soon.

I've been using staining bags up to this point. That works fine when you only have a few hop additions but it starts to be a pain when you do a 90 min IPA or have a more than 3 additions.Add benefit: It broke the small boil bubbles into large bubbles, so I didn't have a boil over, I usually have to babysit the first moments of the boil, no longer an issue with a spider.Clean up is easier than multiple reusable strain bags.Well made produce no loose mesh or holes other than 300 micron ones.
