Using the switch to trigger an LED indicator to show when the garage door is open. I decided to go with this switch because the magent can be up to around an inch away and still trigger the switch, which made it easy to mount on the garage door. It is working perfectly.Update 1/9/15: the unit has been working intermittently the last couple weeks. It always closes when out of range of the magnet, but sometimes remains closed when the magnet is in close proximity. Tapping on the side of the switch causes it to open. Not sure if it is getting tired or the colder weather in my garage is the issue. Reduced rating to 4 stars.Update 1/12/15: weather has warmed up and the switch is again working OK, so it appears to be temperature related. The switch is right by the overhead door so gets pretty cold, although Honeywell specs this switch down to -40F. At colder temps the magnet may need to be closer to the switch.Update 10/10/16: I modified the mount so the magnet is around 1/4" away from the switch and it works perfectly, even in cold weather.
