I recently dropped my engine's oil pan to change the connecting rod bearings. This was a bit of a messy process, and when measuring the journal diameters I didn't like the amount of oil I got on my "good" micrometer. I thought this micrometer would be good to have for future messy work.Unfortunately this mic is just not accurate enough for that type of work. So I'll use it for situations that don't require as much accuracy. The biggest issue is that the measuring surfaces just don't meet flush. See 3rd photo. If you are always conscience of this, you can make your measurements where the surfaces contact, and things won't be too bad; but this really depends how much accuracy is needed. The mic is not as smooth as more expensive instruments, however I really didn't find this to be an issue. I did need to use the little wrench to adjust the zero mark, but this was easily done.Given the price of this instrument, I don't think it should be judged too harshly. But someone considering this instrument should be aware of it's shortcomings.

While I won’t make any claims about its extreme accuracy, this micrometer is a solid tool that will meet the needs of 90% of users. It operates smoothly and has the resolution necessary for most projects. If you need precision beyond one or two decimal places, you might want a more refined instrument. But for general use, this micrometer does the job well, and I’d recommend it.

I do a lot of precision jobs at home and at work. I like precision tools. So when I saw this micrometer pop up, I had to test it to see how good it actually was.Cons:resolution is 0.01mmRepeatability from reading to reading with the same part being measured over and over about 6 lines deviation so +-0.03mmFeel: the action is quite smooth at least till you even touch the locking lever. Then its a hot grindy mess. I thought it was broken till I noticed the lever was slightly off the free position. The clutch end feels too light for what I am used to and could not make repeatable readings. The best readings were by using the large knurled section and tightening to similar light torque.Accuracy: It is accurate to at least 0.01mm, when you use it right. I checked against my calibrated gauge blocks.Having said that about its accuracy, you need to consider this isn't really a micrometer, even by definition. A micro meter is 0.001mm. This reads at best to 0.01mm, so it reads in units of ten micrometers. The main difference would be the lack of a vernier scale. However, when repeatability is +-0.03mm, the addition of a vernier scale is pointless. If you don't need that level of accuracy, this will do the job and cheaply, but there are alternatives similar in price with better performance. To top it off, you can get a quality Japanese made Mitutoyo micrometer that reads 0.001mm and is accurate to 0.002mm for less than $50 (I just checked on Amazon). There is a World of difference in the quality and performance of these two.For me, I'd go for the Mitutoyo over this every time, and the $30 is not that great a leap given todays currency. As the old saying goes, buy once, cry once. Though it's hard to cry about a quality tool for less than $50...

HOMGEN Outside Micrometer 0-25mm(0.01mm Graduations) Metric External Caliper with Zero WrenchNice tool. Instructions and included wrench made it easy to adjust to zero. Very slight resistance encountered on the screw about 0.03 mm before zero.Compared it to my existing micrometer that was about eight times more expensive and the measurements were identical. Very good value.

Looks and feels just like you would expect.Comes with a spanner wrench so you can get it exactly zeroed in.Then make sure you use the end of the knob to tighten it to get a proper measurement. This will definitely get some use.

This is a really nice measuring instrument, it's easy to use and quite accurate, more accurate than I need for most of my 3d printing/modeling but I'm hoping this will let me push my designs even further, especially with my resin printers I would like to play around with the idea of zero tolerance prints like those fancy Wire EDM fidgets

This micrometer is surprisingly good. The measurements are accurate versus other, verified accurate micrometers. The quality and included case should result in many years of use.

Well they advertise *High Precision Measurement*...no this is not it. I just had to try it out for the price and I got slightly better than I expected. It was a bit of a pain to properly zero out. It's fairly smooth, but repeated measurements vary a bit off the mark. I would not trust it better than +- 0.08. This may fit your work and be fine, but it does not fit mine. I checked it against my certified Mitutoyo calipers and was disappointed. And against my Mitutoyo gage/check blocks. For squirting plastic and random non-precise work this is just fine. Otherwise look elsewhere.
