First, let me say I’m not a professional snake handler. Just a homeowner in Florida. Now that I say it, though, the distinction might be slim.It was no more than one week after receiving this that I had to remove yet another cottonmouth from my back yard.Prior to the snake hook, I was using a shovel and a long wooden dowel to herd or otherwise scoop and scoot problem snakes to a safer spot. This was neither efficient nor particularly effective. The snake hook, on the other hand, is tops!The thin but sturdy hook with a somewhat pointed tip is perfect for both pinning the snake down while you adjust your position and also scooping from underneath the critter, regardless of ground surface.The handle provides a great grip while also providing plenty of padding. Believe it or not, even a medium sized snake can feel pretty heavy at the end of the pole after a few minutes, so the padding is appreciated.The retractable pole is plenty long and very sturdy.Overall, I’m glad I have it and expect to put it to good use!

Sturdy, ergonomic, and lightweight. Wouldn’t function well for flipping debris but is just fine for snakes. Con: Once extended, good luck getting it to collapse. Mine might possibly be broken, but the third segment will not extend and the first segment won’t unlock to allow collapse. It’s a pretty dummy-proof design, so it’s possible mine is just defective. That said, it works fine for most snakes even without full extension. It feels good in the hand, despite being lightweight.
