I am replacing the chrome rod holders with stainless steel holders. I removed the old and installed the new with no problems. The best price I could find after days of looking. I'm sure that they will look good for the life of the boat.

Now, if your boat lives in the salt you might think of getting rod holders with the heavy stainless/chrome finish on them. For me and my boat these are built strong, I can't see them breaking on a big fish. I'm mounting them on my transom port and starboard. The largest fish I'm likely to contend with are sturgeon, Albacore Halibut salmon and the like. The finish looks like it will hold up. I felt like I was taking a chance in buying these but I am so glad I did. You could spend three times the price and not get as good a holder as these.
