Product Description

Carriage Bolts are designed to fasten a wooden face to either a wood or metal frame. Its flat head is designed to eliminate the need for a washer and provide a semi-flush finish to applications. The square underside of the head is self locking to eliminate spinning and the need for a driving tool. The galvanized finish provides optimal rust prevention but can be chalky in appearance.

From the Manufacturer

Carriage Bolts have a smooth, rounded head that has a small square section underneath. They are used in wood connections utilizing the square neck under the round head which will sit into the hole to prevent the head from turning. These carriage bolts come plated in zinc for moderate corrosion resistance.

Threads coated with galvanized, nuts dont work. Required tools to thread each bolt to be able to use. This is not normal, if I could have waited for good ones, I would have returned.Dont buy

Out of 100 bolts 22 failed. In the quality world that's World Class Failure.

I think these were galvanized with chunky cement. The threads are junk and will seize up.

Nuts do NOT fit these bolts. I bought the DURA-CON 5/15-18 nuts to use on these bolts and they will not thread on the bolts. I tried several other nuts that I have in the shop and nothing would screw onto them. I tried chasing a few of the bolts and they just broke off. I returned the bolts.

I had to rethread about half of the bolts in order to get the nuts started so not very pleased
