About this item

  • The MF522-AN module design the circuit of card read by using the original Philips MFRC522 chip.
  • Easy to use, low cost, and applicable to equipment development and card reader development etc.
  • Applicable for the user who need to design or manufacture the RF card terminal.
  • The module can be directly loaded into the various reader molds.
  • The module use a voltage of 3.3V, it can connected communication with user's any CPU mainboard through several lines of SPI interface, it can ensure stable and reliable work, and reader distance.

RC522 chip
1. MFRC522 is a highly integrated read and write chip which is applicable to 13.56MHz contactless communications.
2. It is a non-contact read and writer card chip, low voltage, low cost and small size, is a better choice for smart meters and portable handheld devices development.
3. MF RC522 completely integrated in all types of 13.56MHz passive contactless communication methods and protocols.
4. Support 14443A compatible transponder signals. The digital part handles ISO14443A framing and error detection. In addition, support fast CRYPTO1 encryption algorithms, terminology validation MIFARE products.
5. MFRC522 support MIFARE series of high-speed non-contact communication, two-way data transmission rate up to 424kbit/s.
6. As a highly integrated 13.56MHz card reader new family of chips, there are many similarities between MF RC522, MF RC500 and MF RC530, but also have many differences. Communication between it and the host SPI mode helps to reduce the connection, reduce PCB board size and cost.

As soon as the tag readers arrived and the pin headers were soldered on, I uploaded the "firmware check" sketch to my Arduino and wired them up one reader at a time, and all three readers passed the initial testing. I then wrote up a quick sketch to provide audible confirmation, and to display tag information on a 20x4 I2C character display. All three cards and all three key fobs scanned with no issues.I do look forward to doing more experiments with these RFID readers and tags. For $10, it was a great value.

Can't go wrong with HiLetgo, their products always perform as advertized, and these modules are no exception. Now as far as the modules themselves, the one limitation I found (using 3.3V) is they need to be really close to the keyfobs, so putting them inside a plastic case adds too much distance as the crystal on top adds an extra 3 or 4mm of space. It would be easier with the antenna trace on the flat bottom side.

Hooked these up to an ESP8266 as a fun project. I intend to make it so these cards can open our garage as we already have a deadbolt lock that can scan cards to unlock.Range seems good and was pretty easy to hook up with a little research on SPI. I do wish they had I2C support out of the box.

I have used lots of these and the sensor module works with any rfid card I could find. It works basically just like the OEM arduino RFID products.

I liked these since the price was good, and the range for the card reader and RFID chip were good for what I needed. Each reader came with a key fob and card, which was great for testing. Although I intended to use it to read other types of devices and it reads them just fine (specifically a magic band).

Really wanted to play with RFID and these work great. All the cards and fobs worked and the header pins were delivered not bent. All 3 units worked. I've bought a few before from a different seller and they weren't as good. Docked one star for no instructions or links to projects and no mounting screws. But got everything that was advertised, 👍

I purchased this item to build an easy mp3 player. The intent was to program RFID cards with song numbers on them that could be read and cause a particular song to be played on an mp3 player. This would be particularly useful for older folks or disabled individuals. Add a micro controller and a speaker, a couple of buttons and a volume control. Put is in a case and you have a self contained unit. All are readily available on the internet. This unit works as expected.
