To describe this bench as hard or difficult to assemble is downright nonsense. I simply cannot imagine they manufactured your pieces any different than mine or gave you directions written in crayon on a cocktail napkin. This bench is NOT hard or difficult to assemble, the directions are VERY clear and easy to understand. What I will agree with however is that it is a little time consuming but well worth it esp. when you are assembling it on a beautiful afternoon with a cold beer when you need a break. It's as simple as this, sort out ALL your parts, read the directions ENTIRELY and follow them to the letter!!! If it says don't tighten hardware, don't tighten hardware until it says to!!! It explains quite clearly how the bearing straps must be installed to ensure proper gliding function. I believe they even warn you not to sit on it until it has been completely assembled. I guarantee everyone complaining about how hard this was to assemble, how holes didn't line up, it doesn't glide right, it fell apart, blah blah blah, didn't follow the directions exactly as written.I was able to assemble the bench in just under 2 hours and half that time was spent sorting out the hardware. There are a lot of nuts and bolts but it's very important to sort all these out beforehand because some of the bolts are pretty close in length. Not only that but when you have that many it's not unimaginable there could be a couple missing and that's not something you want to find out later. So take the time and sort everything out before you begin assembly. The only tools you really need are a flat-head screwdriver, phillips head screwdriver and a 7/16 wrench (or nut driver). To make things go much faster I suggest a cordless drill with a wide flat head bit and a 7/16 socket but when it comes time to tighten the nuts holding the wood slats you MUST remember to turn the clutch setting way down (I had mine at 7).Bottom line, this bench is a great purchase. It looks great and glides smoothly and quietly. Just take your time assembling it and I guarantee you will be more than pleased with the results.

Our new screened-in porch needed furniture and my wife had picked out a nice glider loveseat and chairs sold by Home Depot. The only problem is, Home Depot really didn't seem to want to actually sell them to us. Shown on their website and said to be sold in stores, the ridiculous shipping charges from the web made them NOT a good deal and the stores had no stock and didn't want to order them for us to pick up. So, I told her I would find something else.As usual, my first search (and in most cases, my last) was on Amazon.com and I found this very interesting and attractive piece and its tete a tete 2-chair counterpart. I have been a Prime member since the program's inception so I expected to find something with free shipping and, of course I was not disappointed here. Showed them to her and she was coompletely taken with the quality of the pieces and the fact that both had attached tables so we didn't need to buy any additional stuff. Placed the order and waited for the arrival. When they arrived, the boxes were a bit raggedy and beaten, but the pieces inside were unscathed and all present and I began assembly of the other one first. Due to very poor illustrations and not-to-scale drawings of most parts, it took several hours for me to assemble this, especially since the aforementioned lack of accuracy had me using the wrong braces at first. Just be very careful and visualize how the finished piece will look and you will manage to get it put together. Be ready to tighten (and loosen and retighten) A LOT of small nuts, but you really only need a good stubby screwdriver and a stubby ratchet driver to do it. Stubby is important because well into assembly, clearance for the tools will become a bit of an issue.Ultimately, it came together well and was a surprisingly sturdy and attractive piece of furniture. If I saw this in a showroom, I would fully expect a $200-$300 price tag on it and would expect people to buy it at that price without a qualm. The fact that I paid a lot less for it made it that much better a deal. My wife and I have used both pieces and the cats have even accepted and started using them too. So, to sum it up - great deal, great product and I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. The only possible negative is I wish there were more matching pieces available in this series, maybe some individual chairs and tables.
